Funk Free Spray

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a place to buy Funk Free. The shops here don't carry it, and I was getting it previously from Hockeyworld.com but I can't find it on their site as of late.

www.funkfree.com looks like a dead link now. Anyone have any info about this product or places that still carry it online? Hopefully they didn't go under.

I believe he's out of business.

Thanks for that JR.

Do you or Chadd (I know he has mentioned using Funk Free), or anyone else have a recommended replacement for Funk Free? The only other product that I've tried is the OT Spray, but I thought that it was average at its very best.

Any input is appreciated!

1. get a spray bottle. if it's full, empty it by any means necessary.

2. acquire a bottle of rubbing alcohol.

3. drive down the street to another establishment and buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. (don't want anybody getting suspicious, do we?)

4. take a nap, that was some hard work.

5. once awake and refreshed, dump equal parts alcohol and peroxide into the empty spray bottle.

6. label the bottle accordingly so you don't accidentally end up watering the plants with it.

7. apply a liberal amount to your funkiest gear.

I like it because it works AND it doesn't add some fruity girly smell to your already funkybutt cheetohs and taco meat-smelling gloves.

Agree with JR, hockey hands stuff is wretched. I still have a few bottles of funk free in the closet, guess I better make them last. I handed out bottles to every shop within an hour of me trying to get them to carry it, none of them did.

i still swear by a spray bottle with water and white vinegar. the solution should be 5% vinegar. kills odors and mold. just smells like vinegar until it dries, then doesnt smell afterwards. at costco or bulk places, you can get a gallon of vinegar for like $3

Quick question here, do these sprays in any way reduce the life of a material, because I sprayed hockey equipment doedorizer on my gloves and the palms were gone in less than three months with not very heavy usage. Coincidence maybe but maybe not. By the way the product I used was made by Flarrow hockey and it was a nash palm.

Hockey hands is great, but it's not meant to be an equipment spray. It smells great, simply peppermint extract is what you smell. The key part of it is tea tree oil which kills bacteria. My customers use it to rub on their hands and throughout their gloves. I suspose it could be used for equipment but that's not the intent or use of this product.

Smells great? The stuff they handed out smelled like festering garbage with a hint of mint.

If you're a man you shouldn't want tea tree oil anywhere near your body. That crap is ridiculously estrogenic. Guys have actually grown breast tissue from overusing products that included it in quantity.

I've read several firsthand accounts in the past of guys who were using soaps based on the stuff who ended up with gyno or symptoms of irregular testosterone. That's enough for me. Guys shouldn't mess with lavender oil either.

if you had the slightest understanding of gyno and what it took to cause it, you wouldnt attribute it to tea tree oil.

No, Mark's not out of business. He called me last week to help him redo his website.

I'm not sure if I have his latest email address, so if you're interested in ordering directly from Mark, send me a PM and I'll let him know when I speak with him next.

Regarding whether it shortens the life of the equipment, I've been using it on the same pair of gloves for over three years. If anything, it should increase the life of the equipment since it lessens the buildup of salt residue.

Last, for the gentleman who thinks we men shouldn't smell good, after a game recently both teams hit the shower. The kid next to me REEKED. I don't mean he like he played hard and sweated; I mean like he played hard and sweated into equipment that he keeps wrapped up in his bag in his car. I literally had to turn away for a moment until he had started soaping. If it got that infused into his body, I can't imagine how bad his bag smells.

Mark said one of the reasons he is redoing the website is he has been having problems with emails. As such, he said it's okay to email him at his personal address: MarkGrassel@peoplepc.com
