Easton Synergy SL or ST?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to get a new synergy ('07 models) at a good price and im torn between getting the SL and the ST. Any of you use either stick? Which do you prefer I get? I know its all about personal preference, but id like to know what you think. Thanks.

They are different animals. The SL (super-light) is very light, "high performance" but has durability issues. The ST (super-tough, I think) sacrifices the weight for high durability while still maintaining good performance.

Personally I prefer the st stick. I find it to be way more durable, I have used both of these sticks and broke 3 sl in a month and a little bit. I wasn't impressed with the durability of the sl. Like you said it's a personal choice.

I have had both (although in different flexes) and prefered the SL. The ST is a solid stick but I felt the SL was far superior in terms of feel and balance. I purchased my SL last fall and it is still going strong, however I am very easy on twigs and rarely take a slap shot. I also just picked up a 2008 ST from a member on the board, so I really think you will be happy either way.

The SL's are tempermental but offer more performance. The ST doesn't feel as good to hold or stick handle with but will last a long time unless you're reckless. Personally, neither of these sticks is at the top of the list anymore. You can get something much more complete in both departments for a few dollars more...

Had both of the sticks too. I loved the SL, but broke the thing way too fast for me to purchase another one. I have had 2 ST's and don't see myself getting a differnet stick in a while. For me it is a good balance between performance and durability. Shoots decent and don't have to worry about it breaking it too much either.

the ST is hands-down, the best stick i've ever used in regards to well-rounded performance, balance, weight and durability. i purchased a 4-pack of 2005 ST pro stocks a couple years back, and although i've broken two, the other two are still in regular use. i've picked up a couple 2006 models since then to back up my pro stocks.

i've since used a bunch of sticks that are supposedly more high-end, including NBH One90s, S17s, CCM V10.0 and a U+, AND i've even tried out a clear Synergy SL which split down the blade after three skates, but i've always gone back to the ST and will continue to use this model until Easton decides to replace it with something else.

I've had a couple SL's and they are nice performance, but they do seem rather fragile. Just feels like they're going to break half the time.

I wonder how far the ST is from a Dolomite? My Dolo is a tank and still has decent performance. Picking up the ST, it seems pretty similar, heavier stick, but just a good tapered rig with no gimmicks.

I've never used a ST, but I did have a prostock SL for awhile. I used it for at least 6 months without any problems before I let my temper get the best of me. I introdued it to the crossbar after I let a guy skate around me. It didn't last too long after that.

I Like the ST, can you tell?...especially for the durability

how does the yellow synergy compair to a st??

i thought all the sticks I have except the red ones (retail ST's) were pro stock ST's.....it isnt?

Anyway, havent used it yet. use the two silver ones until they break, then will move on

IMO, the ST plays a little closer to the Shogun than the Dolomite. There are probably some who'll disagree, but I certainly felt a higher kickpoint on the Shogun, which may have been why I liked that twig more than the Dolomite.

I had an SL that I picked up at a Sports Authority for 35 bucks (the employees there don't know squat about pricing hockey stuff) and I loved it while I had it. But the toe had chipped pretty severely and the shaft buzzes pretty bad now after using it for under a month for ice. Great performance, poor durability. Have heard great things about the ST.

Easton sticks are fused with a glue that won't let you pull the blade out. Start cutting up the shaft starting fairly low until you get a size that will fit tapered blades.

For reference, I took mine to my LHS and they cut up to here to fit blades. It lost several inches of shaft as well, so be prepared to extend the stick if you intend on using the same length of stick.
