MLB All-Star Game thread

How is hitting 28 home runs boring? That's ridic, you can't do that in a video game.

The Derby format is a bit dumb, it would have been beneficial for Hamilton to quit at like 15 when he knows he making it to the Final but obviously nobody wants to see that.

Amazing story for a guy who was basically out of the sport, to be able to do what he's done in his life and still come back and play at this level in MLB you gotta figure he's got as much talent as just about anybody who has ever swung a bat.

Cool article on Matt Laporta from CNNSI....he was the center piece in the Sabathia trade.

I know Sabathia is a great pitcher, but I don't know if I'm trading a kid who DENTED a baseball

The part about him having 4 balls in the air at once at a HR Derby is pretty ridiculous as well.

Most boring derby i've seen.

Hamilton was fun to watch up until about 14 or so, then you knew he would choke.

I don't see how you can find hitting 28 home runs boring, thats probably a once and a life time opportunity to see. I found it more exciting to cheer him on after what he has been through, drugs, drinking ect.... he didn't even work out for two years so thats pretty impressive.

the only downer was that he didn't win. but I was glad to see that a Canadian.

Anybody else catch Chase Utley saying "Boo, f*** you" to the fans?

Wish I had as that's the only Phillie not named Dale Murphy I could like. Good for him though. I even caught the "celebrity" softball game and heard them booing the cute broad playing with the Red Sox hat.

Well he was the #1 overall pick in the draft, and many scouts said he was the best player they've ever seen.

Its not like the kid came out of nowhere. Hes been a big name since his freshman year of highschool.

Just like Abreu's 24 seemed untouchable a few short years ago?

Still, Abreu putting 41 up for the night and actually winning is far more impressive....to me, atleast.

The best part of the night was watching those two hop the fence into the blacks, knock eachother over, and sprint out the tunnel with NYPD right on their tail. Then they show a kid who didnt make it getting choked out in the bottom right corner.

Ya it happened a few years ago but it's still entertaining. I would of liked it to be at Fenway Park better. but Josh Hamilton hasn't played an MLB game until last season, he has just played a little over one season (183 games).

I did find that funny how the NYPD chocked that kid in the bottom corner.

I was still happy that a Canadian won the derby

How about Papelbon's comments in the papers today?

Francona's not stupid, I think that Mo will be the last pitcher on the mound, save or no save.
