Where can I order some good quality waxed laces?

Recommended Posts

Since Hockey Monkey and Giant insist on carrying the ultra-craptacular A&R and Elite laces lines, I have been unable to get a decent pair of waxed white laces. Anyone know where I can find some good ones with wax that actually is on the laces?

I've never really had a problem with A&R laces..I didnt know they were "crap." I change my laces about once a month these days anyway.

They're labeled as being waxed and there is no wax to be found....I have a problem with that. ;)

C.H. Anderson makes heavily waxed laces. so much that the wax gets all over you and your skate when putting them in

If you go A&R for your wax laces, you have to go with the "heavy wax". They have so much wax on them you end up with a pile of white shavings on the floor after lacing up your skates for the first time.

Elite has Royal, and lime green. Not sure about orange. They aren't too bad, but certainly not as good as the Graf laces. I use the A&R laces (light blue and red), but I also replace my laces about every 4-6 weeks due to color wear...color laces start to lose their "bling" factor after about a month.

I really dont use wax laces because I find them harder to get tight than I do with the regular laces. I like to tighten my skates ever period and its hard to do with wax laces..I'd prefer my skate laces to be 1/2 waxed..and unwaxed around the ankles so I can periodically tighten them with ease..

With a wax lace you shouldn't have to tighten them every period. I backlace and use wax laces and I've never had to tighten mine mid-game. Then again, my skates fit like a glove and I have skated in them without lacing the top half dozen eyelets.

My skates fit like a glove as well, but I like them very tight and I can be a bit particular...I re-lace out of habit at the end of each period..Just something I do..I often leave the last 1-2 eyelets unlaced...The problem with me and waxed laces is that sometimes it is hard to get them tightened as I would with non-wax laces..especially new ones..Just a pain in the rear end sometimes and they break more often in my experience. Also, after every game/session I loosen my skates up quite a bit to air them out and roll the tongue...Then I'll have to slowly relace them again to get them just right. I just find waxed laces harder to thread through the eyelets at times...If I could find wax laces that are only waxed halfway..so I can keep the area around the foot tight and snug while adjusting the ankles accordingly..Just a personal preference..

I have a pair of blue ones right now. Got them as a freebie, and I forgot what brand they are. But I have had them for well over a year and they haven't faded a bit. Still as dark as they day I laced them up.

two kinds of waxed-- Baked Wax ( does not flake off everywhere and does not make a FREAKING mess ) which may APPEAR to have no wax, but in reality does and then there is the Regular Wax which flakes off everywhere and makes a FREAKING mess. now that mess all over my gear bag and skates....... I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT. ;)

to each his own.... just know that there is a difference and that A&R and Elite are not trying to screw you. BTW A&R offers both Reg Wax and Heavy Wax. cheers!
