ATTN: Mods and Reps; Is this OK?

Recommended Posts

This question is mostly for the mods and sales reps here. I didn't know what forum to post this is, so I put it here.

Would it be alright if I put "member of MSH hockey.com" on a resume for an internship? It's a sales and marketing internship for an AHL team.

I don't claim to be a ranking member here or to have recomendations from mods or sales reps. I just mention the topics we discuss here and the fact that we have industry reps reading the boards.

In fact here is the text I want to use word for word.

Am also a member at www.modsquadhockey.com which is a website containing open forums for hockey discussions including industry trends, NHL transactions and policies, general hockey and athletic training methods/techniques, players equipment (retail and pro-stock). Notable members include sales representatives from Easton Hockey, Mission Hockey, Hespeler Hockey, and Bauer/Nike Hockey.

Providence Bruins have interships open and I want one for my senior year of college.

I know it's not a big thing seeing a to how we're a public forum, but I don't know anywhere else there is such in depth discussion on hockey in general.

off topic, but Neo, that is one of my favorite quotes ever (your sig). But it was Lady Astor, not Thatcher.

Another one is:

Lady Astor: Mr. Churchill, you are DRUNK!

Churchill: and you, madam, are ugly. But I shall be sober tomorrow.

Thanks to all the Mods! I just hope there's no issue w/ mentioning the manufacterer's names seeing as to how I have no affiliation w/ them. Heh, just shameless namedropping.

I go to the Univ. of Rhode Island.

Geki: Really? Guess my sources aren't reliable. I hear churchill was great w/ one liners.

A guy who played on my summer league team interned for Spokane of the WHL and he was decked out in nice Chief's gear. Pretty sweet deal, especially considering he was just starting to play hockey.

He'll be the guy launching t-shirts into the stands at intermission :)

Hey, that's what our marketing interns did.

That's a damn shame because they actually interview people to do that here. It's so queer and they don't even get hot girls. Who wants all that thigh running around the stands giving out shirts and crap?

Here that would be a guy in the Bear costume and someone to help him. Low budget all the way. Then again, with the local turnout for games, I don't blame them.

I don't know if being a member of a hockey message board will really make any difference. They have to figure that if you're applying for the internship that you are interested in the game. Also, the most discussion here is about equipment and playing the game, not much insight into selling and marketing the game itself.

That said, good luck. Providence usually runs a good game.

LOL. They must have spent all of their money on that nice new arena. I can't say I have ever been inside, but it looks real plush from the outside. I've always wanted to go see a Bears game while we were down there, but we are usually shmoozing at the club, so we never really have time. Eventually I am just going to end up driving myself out there to catch a game by myself.

Never been to a Bears game but I played at the old Arena with Chadd. Talk about an intimate arena...plus the seats are so steep...

Cherry said the same thing in the THN yearbook. His wife is from Hershey, met her while he was playing here.

The new building is really nice but every time there is a whistle they have some contest or announcement sponsored by somoene. It's hard to get into the action with all of the extended stops. It takes longer for an AHL game in Hershey than an OT NHL game.

The old barn is great. Last I heard this will be the last year before they tear it down and build a new water ride for the park. They've already done a couple of studies and that seems to be the plan.

I think you could probably put it in there, but I'm not sure it would have any positive influence whatsoever. I worked in the sales & marketing department of the LA Kings for 2 years and while they do probably run some community hockey programs, I would have to say it's a whole different ball of wax with them.

Granted the Kings are a big city, non-traditional hockey town team, there were only 1-2 people in the entire sales department that had any hockey experience or could play the game with any skill and honestly the big bosses could care less. Knowledge of the game, equipment, etc isn't even on their radar screen. They just want numbers.

While this is a product/game based forum, the sales dept. at a team, probably even minor league, is a bottom line, about the numbers focused dept.

But hey! You never know!

The flyers had girls do it just this year. They cleared the ice around the net and doors, and also launch the t-shirts. They used to have a bunch of dudes doing it.... good move getting them out of there. And while they look hot from the seats, I don't think any of them were 5 feet tall. I still hit on them though.
