i think there 4 types of pro reeboks in the nhl..

9ks

ccm 852s

ccm tacks pro

and mia's

WOW! I've officially heard it all! This is one of the saddest, made-up stories I've ever heard!

Lidstrom seems to have had a falling out, I seem to recall Easton telling him he was too old...or something along those lines. Lidstrom basically said...F that, and now he is in Warrior gear (who does not seem to be afraid of sponsoring older players [weight, modano, lidstrom, draper]).

The plan will never work; guys will switch out of it sooner than later.

I wouldnt really consider CCM(reebok) making a huge move on the horizon. Yes, they have made improvements over their old "tech", however, they pump so much equipment that alot of guys come right into the league with CCM/RBK (via chl or ahl). I think that why were seeing so much CCM around. (Dare I say their plan is finally starting to work?) The fact of the matter is I dont see alot of CCM running around on kids or adults around where I live, though I will say I am impressed that their new stuff is somewhat cool and innovative compared to their old stuff.....some of their craftsmanship is still the same however, which is dissapointing.

Zach

You can call my story made up...I just heard they wanted endorse him for only certain pieces of equipement. Please elaborate on the real story!

Zach

I could have sworn Iggy was endorsing NikeBauer AND Easton concurrently, at one point...

I think it was right around the time of the One90 release. And at that point he already has his name on an Easton pattern, didn't he? I think players DO endorse a company for particular products, otherwise we would have at least seen one or two pics of him giving Easton skates a shot.

Iginla was not a NBH endorser. He endorsed NikePro baselayers.

Guys get paid to wear a certain skate and glove or stick or whatever, but a guy of Lidstrom's caliber isn't going to be asked to just wear certain products. He himself told me that Easton wanted him to wear the SyNergy skate, but it took him 3 years to finally do. His previous Easton skates were Bauer knockoffs and were nothing like the retail product. The SyNergy skates that he was wearing for the past couple of seasons were the original ones he received in 2005.

However, the whole Warrior thing had nothing to do with that and everything to do with money.

The name embroidery screams Eagle.

The number on the thumb screams MIA/Warrior ;)

Eagle did it first - remember Savard's.

I concur with JR that they're Eagles. I have a pair of PPFs and the cuts of the cuff look identical in shape. I'm sure you could somehow get some palms on some warriors, but the gloves he's got have MSH2 palms which further lead me to believe that they are Eagles.

Thats ridiculous, why would he use a blade a period. Do wood blades die that fast?
Yes, I read that over the week-end. A year ago the Pens were at West Point for a 3 day camp. My friend is the hockey ops/equipment guy at Tate Rink for Army. he said Crosby checked about 200 blades with the rep there. Good, bad, bad, good, good, good,.........

From what they show in the new Crosby dvd... he's very anal with the sticks, and gear. I think they mentioned he makes them change the steel every 2 weeks, and requires extra loc-tite so he hears no click. He also requests his sticks do not travel/not kept w/ the goalie sticks.

Is that like a superstition thing or something. Also how is the dvd?

It's decent... especially if you're a Crosby and/or Pens fan. It's just basically a video chronicle of the entire season last year. If you see the dvd, and see his jock shown at the end, you'll see he's very meticulous and borderline crazy with the gear... the cup looks older than him. I mean, do you really think changing the blades every period has to do with functionality, or just a routine thing for him?

I remember reading somewhere that once he tapes up his stick, no one is allowed to touch his stick. If someone does, he has to retape it before he can use it. Quite superstitious...but hey...if it works...it works...

Ah, I can dig it. Thanks for the clarification, JR! :D

I guess if somebody asks why he's so superstitious he can point to his Art Ross or Hart Trophy. hehe.

Last year I think Selanne was in Vapors that appeared to be painted black. Must like the old skool look I guess?

On Getty images there are a few shots where you can see the skate, and that he has missed to top & 3rd eyelet to give him his Finnish Flash Forward Flex (trademarked pending!!).

He punches several holes around where the third and 2nd eyelet will be, however, it is closer to the edge of the eyerow, giving him more forward flex than a standard pattern. He does not put eyelets back in - just drills them as there wouldn't be enough clearance to have the eyelet stick.

No special equipment here, but this is just a great shot of Selanne.

The JOFA on that helmet is whited (?) out. I'm surprised they didn't put RBK (or the vector) on it like that European lid that Dupes had for sale here a while back. Or was/is that strictly a Europe/branding thing where JOFA is still more prevalent.
