It is a joke that Tim Thomas is not on the ballot. He played in the game LAST YEAR!

not only did he play, but wasn't he the winning goaltender?

and a side note again.. He is #1 in G.A.A. and Save % in the league now

Unfortunately the ballots were printed before the season started and he finished the season last year with a 2.44 GAA.

Not for nothing but they shouldn't print the ballots so early. It is absurd to have a guy like Gonchar on the ballot who won't play until March at the earliest and leave off a guy who is off to a great start.

NHL All-Star game lost all meaning last season when Sundin wasn't in it. It's a joke.

Some of the habs fans are doing a great job at turning it into a farce this year.

They weren't the only ones stuffing the ballot, like why was Stephane Robidas #2 in D-men voting at the beginning, but they've certainly been the most persistent.

I was reading on the Habs board (don't know the original source) that ALL votes may get re-set to zero.

That only helps if they know how to spot the script going forward. It also invalidates a lot of legitimate votes.

I'm not saying I agree with it...just reporting what I 'heard'. I'd say stop the bot/script and cut half of the current Hab votes...

Today over on Puck Daddy, Monsieur Wyshynski has a great breakdown of the latest All Star happenings, including confirmation from the league that the automated votes have in fact been removed - almost 20,000 from Kovalev alone, apparently.

Stellar headline over on Fark:

In response to complaints that tech-savvy Habs fans were stuffing the online All-Star ballot box, the NHL has instituted a fraud-prevention measure whereby each voter must admit, in writing, that Sidney Crosby is the Emperor of Earth

+1 subby

I won't post the GIF (because we frown on that...) but take a look. Not too far down the page.

Ok I'm a Habs fan and I'll be the first to say this needs to be changed. Fans should have a say on who is in the game, and who starts it, but when it comes to "first team all stars", that should be taken care of by a group that sees all of the league, and is totally unbiased. First team all star is something that goes into the record books and should truly be the best players at that point in time in each position. This being said, if there is 6 players in the all star game from the home team, why is it so terrible to have them start the game. I think we need to differentiate between 1st team all stars and starters, because they'll be off the ice in 30 seconds anyway. I would have no problem in having "home" players start the game for the fans, but they shouldn't be remembered as a first team all stars 20 years later.

I understand what you are saying, but ASG Starters is not the same as "First Team All Star". First and Second Team All Stars are announced at the end of the year.

Voting for the ASG does not affect those results.

oic...wheres the dunce cap, I better throw it on...thanks for clearing that up then. I really don't see why this is too big of a deal then...James Duthie said it as well, they only play the first 45 seconds then they're off, it's good for the fans.

It does mean that guys who actually deserve to go to the game will have to stay at home because the Habs fans stuffed the ballot box. It should be an opportunity to showcase the game, but it really serves no purpose at all anymore. Other than making some money for the league and being a big party for the corporate sponsors of course.
