Just wanted to share my experience from yesteday I had while at work.

On a normal day we'll have the locals in for daily specials and the bar will for the most part be loud and lively with continous food orders. Before yesterday, never in my life have I seen so many adult citizens focus in complete silence for the amount of times I witnessed.

As CNN plays for hours in our bar the customers watched the updates on Gov. Blagojevich in silence, and you didnt even get the occasional turn of the head when somebody walked in. The residents (in my town) of Illinois were so shocked, concerned, and dare I say ashamed that it sent chills down your back.

as a former chicago/IL resident, Blago always seemed a little used car salesman to me, so i while i was surprised i wasn't that surprised.

I was most shocked at the blatant language/attitude he had on this. It's amazing that someone in his position would out-and-out say that kind of stuff. It is idiotic!

It will be interesting to see how this thing unfolds.

Unfortunate black eye to the Dem. party after having such a strong election year.

Illinois politicians have a long and storied history of being corrupt. The previous governor is still in jail after his corruption conviction.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but it seems like every class involving US politics I've ever taken in college has noted how corrupt Illinois is.

...and has been since basically forever.

About 3 months ago I sent an email to CT's most prominent corrupt politician, Chris Dodd. I expressed my displeasure with his ego trip presidential campaign and absolute disgust with his role in our current economic woes, not to mention his mortgage issues. This is the response I got yesterday. 2010 can't come soon enough.

Cut and paste e-mail, I bet that you were not the only person who received that exact same e-mail.

Exactly. 4 of the past 7 governors of Illinois have been arrested. Chicago is famous for hot dogs and machine politics. Vote the bums out and you won't have anything to be ashamed of.
