NEW REEBOK "O" STICK

Recommended Posts

They should both come out in the spring.

Nike did make a shoe that was branded as Nike Bauer. I believe they are the free 7.0's, but I may be mistaken.

*they're the 7.0's not the 5.0's

So wait, this thread was asking about the 8.0.8, the Octogun... then switched gears to Nike/Bauer shoes and he copied LkptTiger's link incorrectly into a whole new thread?

Whoa... I have a migraine now.

Back to the 8 0 8 and the octogun. They come out in the spring, like everything else.

Maybe someone in the biz can answer this, and I'm sure I can guess the answer but...why does new equipment come out at the end of the hockey season for most people. Then...when the next NHL season starts, it feels like your equipment is old.

Atleast if they release new equipment in December, they can sell the kids on the new stuff from sept to Dec. by watching the pros, then they get the holiday rush, and you get four months of rocking the same model stuff as the pros.

Dealers would be trying to clear stock at the start of the season, when most purchases are made. A spring release lets dealers clear stock through the season and order/restock over the summer.

If you think having the current season gear for more than 3 months feels old... then it figures why companies like Warrior change the graphics every season on the same old product.

Heres the thing. I still wear xxx's that I got three years ago, before I got all into equipment whoring. however, I decided it was time for new skates. They were going to be my christmas present to myself, but now I decided to finish the season with these so in the spring I have a whole bunch of new skates to pick from and I can wear them in during the summer before next season.

I get the reasoning, I don't like it, but I get it.

But JJ, as soon as you buy your new skates in the spring, NHL players will be spotted wearing the November release model, then what do you do? :-)

Its also easier to recieve deliveries in the spring because thats traditionally a slower time of the year. Its much less hectic to unpack, price, and store hundreds of boxes of equipment without a ton of customers coming in and out.

I just acquired a pro stock 8.0.8 last week. So far I'm pretty happy with it. It's much improved over last years "O" stick(pro stock) which I also have. The 8.0.8 actually feels more like a high end Easton stick instead of a Reebok. Which in my opinion is a huge improvement. 8.0.8 isn't boxy and dead feeling like its predecessor. The stick is well balanced and very responsive. It feels a little heavier than my S17 but not by much. Overall so far so good. I'm interested to see what the durability is like.

Anyone else had one for a while that can lend an opinion.

everyone used to get the new gear in late summer so it was in stock for the fall hockey season, back when the industry made sense. Now, the online guys fight to get it as early as possible because the lemmings, I mean kids, want to be the first to have whatever piece of new gear is coming out, even if they won't be using it for a few months. Hell, they can't even wait for the shops to get it now, they "pre-order" before the products ever leave china. As if buying sight unseen isn't bad enough, some people are buying before it's ever produced based solely on marketing promises that the product will be earth shaking or groundbreaking.

As for selling in December, why do you think everyone now has a mid-season release of some sort now? Some manufacturers will eventually go to twice annual or quarterly releases in order to get as much money from their dealers as they can.

I have also used the new 8.0.8 Reebok stick and I really like it. The balance is terrific, it weighs about 1 pound, and has a very "solid" feel to it, even though it has the ports. The black and silver color scheme is a big improvement over the green and white from the original O Stick. I am also curcious to see how it holds up. I've had an aluminum Easton shaft for about 15 years, which obviously weighs more, but has been great with any wood replacement blade. I play defense in an Over 35 league about once a week, so that will give you an idea how much use the stick gets.

This thread is full of fail, I'm pretty sure this guy has asked the question about these shoes multiple times and all he does is give the thread a different name.
