what are those blue wraps i am seeing on pro sticks..

there is some kinda blue sticky thing on top of the tape on pro sticks I have noticed. does anyone know what it is?

I think that's powerflex, a lot of people I know use medical bandage that they use to attach IVs to dogs with and it's blue with a stick and serated (sp) feel.

I believe it's the same stuff as the medical wrap Coban. You can also find it at feed stores for wrapping horses legs, but it's all pretty much the same stuff.

That's what I was talking about but I couldn't really describe it very well.

No, it's the thin gauze that Sportstape sells, it is much thinner than Powerflex.

if you don't like the Tacki-Mac offerings you can use Tennis raquet wrap. I went away from the Command Grips in favor of the Wilson overwrap and it's pretty easy on the gloves while still being a little grippy itself

The veterinary version is called VetWrap (appropriately). I use to wrap up my whippet's ankles but have never seen anyone use it on their stick.

That's for sure... I've used it for maybe 3-4 games and my palms are all red (I used the red wrap) and I can see the leather starting to wear already. It works well as far as grip goes but I don't know how long I'll keep it considering the damage it may do.

After comparing pictures of powerflex and sportstape gauze I'd have to say mine is closer to the powerflex one (although the stuff I got seems thinner, probably just b/c it's been stretched when I applied it). I'm still going to try a tacki-mac grip next, see how I like that.

I suppose if it was so sticky that you couldn't rotate your hand about the stick, it would be impossible to wear a hole.

That's essentially what happened to me with the tacki-mac... I hated it.

When I tried that, it just got wax all over my palms.

thats what I am thinking too but i think it will stop some of the tape rub and wear on the palm. Oh i just got a email from my cousin he said I should use a stick rub. He said all the pro's use this, tape a broken shaft with the sticky side out and rub it all over the shaft.. And then he laughed and said I should just use the gloves until they wear out and get new ones. lol But the stick rub thing is kinda cool.
