Super Feet!?

Recommended Posts

I was told by my ortho doctor to get Superfeet recently. I wear a 7.5 EE Easton S7 and when I went on various websites selling the insoles, it looks as if they only sell them in D width. Anyone else have wide feet and has superfeet in their skates? Any and all help in this matter is greatly appreciated.

Maybe you're confusing the way Superfeet sizes its insoles with the way shoe width is traditionally sized. Supefeet size C doesn't refer to C width but rather refers to sizes 5.5-7, Size D means 7.5-9, Size E means 9.5-11, and so on. So if you need size 7.5, you take a D which is large enough to fill a size 9 skate but you trim it down to the size of your 7.5 skate. That's why they call them trim-to-fit. I can't guarantee that your skate size corresponds to the Superfeet size though. The best thing is to take your insole to a dealer to compare to the Superfeet and also see how a specific size fits your foot shape. To have the arch in the right place, you could even go a size larger if needed and trim off the excess.

I can't find any dealers around here that sell superfeet but I want to give them a try and am concerned about sizing. Do you go by your shoe or skate size. I wear a size 7 CCM skate and 9.5 sneakers/shoes. I know they are trim to fit but I still want to get the best size that will fit my arch.

Thanks in advance.

I ordered from Ice Warehouse about a month or so ago because they were running a discount. I just checked and it doesnt look like they still have it. Their website says order according to your shoe size.

I had shockdoctor recently, and i just used the superfeet 5 times on the ice, and every time I was on the ice i felt uncomfortable, when I got back on my shockdoctors, it felt better

Shock Doctors seem to have a different shape and padding. Everyone is different.. My feet respond better to the Graf (sidas) footbeds than the Shock Doctors. Probably due to the different arch

I guess I'll just suck it up and use my stock insoles, I don't wanna spend 40 bucks and not have it fit.

You can get them on ebay for 20.00!!

I have Graf 705's and as we all know they already have a forward slopping raised heel. Right now its causing problems in my arch, the yellows are raised quite a bit in the heel so wouldn't it add to the problem?

The pain in your arch is from a lack of arch support...not likely by the pitch of the grafs.

The superfeet will support your arch. The will also slightly increase fwd pitch...although by a very small amount.

Issues, usually have more to to with the superfeet using up volume in the skate. Sometime, the arch on the superfeet is more pronounced than the arch of your foot; that can cause problems.

They are worth a try, if they alleviate your arch pain but you find the skates too far forward, have them profiled to a more neutral pitch or change your holder.

I added superfeet to my skates a few months ago because I was having arch pain and they've made it better but haven't fixed the problem completely. I'm still getting a sort of tired/achy/crampy pain (hard to describe, but it feels kind of like I need to stretch it out, which I obviously can't do in skates) in my arch and into the ball of my foot. Oddly enough I don't really notice it when I'm skating but when I'm standing still or not moving too much, like going over a drill or practicing shooting, it starts to hurt.

Any ideas what the problem is? I'm guessing that I have a high arch and the superfeet don't offer enough support, but is there anything out there that would give more support (without buying new skates)?

I have the same problem. I have One90's and when I went to shock Doc's it got a little better but not too much. I'm guessing it's laces too tight but I can't say for sure.

How to tell your arch type:

IMO opinion it sounds like a combination of tying your skates too tight -if the "achy feeling" goes away when skating it could be that you're cutting off circulation and the mere act of skating is allowing the blood to pump through the constriction - and having a skate/footbed without enough arch support.

SD used to make a customizable arch support footbed. I never used them (SF fixed my problem plus I bought a skate w/less arch - was in vectors and moved to supremes).

I used Superfeet for 15 years up until a few months ago, they were always helpful with adding support to my feet but I'd have some discomfort from time to time. I have since tried 2 different moldable insoles and the difference has been night and day. I first tried the yoursole ones and they were a real high quality insole, the only problem was i followed the advice on their site about sizing and they were too big for the skates (they went in but were a PITA to remove), after that I found sofsoles which offered the same moldable technology, got them at a local store in the proper size and haven't looked back since. If the superfeet arch is too high for you you may want to try the moldable ones, they also don't add the slight fwd pitch like superfeet and they cradle the heel more.

Thanks guys, I'll have to try that test and maybe give one of these other insoles a try. I don't think the problem is due to overtightening my skates, since they're just barely snug through the forefoot and I don't really start to tighten them until I get about halfway up the laces.

Anyone know if the ShockDoctor forefoot area is thicker than the one on the green SuperFeet? Looking to take up some volume in that area.

I would be careful if your feet are flat. The arch on superfeet is quite pronounced.

Now, some people who are flat footed have a very flexible foot...those people can often wear superfeet. Some people who are flat footed have a more rigid foot; they will experience considerable pain with Superfeet and will require a moldable solution.

Hmm. I have very flat feet (my friend says I'm like a duck, they are so flat). I put Superfeet in there after trying Shock Doctor. WOW!! My feet have never felt so good in skates. I'm not saying it will work for you definitively, just saying that my experience with Superfeet has been amazing.

I bought new CCM V08s about a month ago and had them baked. I skated in them 5 or 6 times, and the fit just wasnt the best, especially on my right foot (which seems to always have some fit problem). I was getting blisters on the arch of my foot, it seemed like there needed to be more support there or something. I really wasnt happy with the fit. I took my skates to the shop the other day, baked them again and bought some Superfeet. They made a huge difference. The skates fit MUCH better now. Highly recommended. Even if you end up not liking them, they have a 60 day guarantee and you can get your money back. I would have paid twice as much.

Find yourself a hockey shop that does Gras/Sidas custom footbeds. I used to think Superfeet/ShockDoctor insoles made things better, but once you have had a custom footbed done, you will never go back. My skates now feel like I am putting on the most comfortable shoe in the world. No comparison.

After wearing green superfeet in my shoes for 2 weeks solid now I would recommend anyone with flat feet buying a pair for each of their shoes, the yellow ones for skates and whatever other boot/heel/etc specific ones you might need.

My own personal experience with Super Feet has been great. My feet always killed when i thightened my skates. I played last season with my skates very loose. I then read about Super Feet on this board and decided to try them out. I felt a difference as soon as i put them in my skates. I was able to tighten my skates up as tight as i wanted (which helped out my skating a bunch) and i had no pain what so ever. At first i thought that the insoles couldnt make that much of a difference until i forgot them at home and had to put my old gel inserts into the skates. My feet absolutely killed me with my old inserts. My feet killed me for days after my game. But the next game i put the Super Feet back into my skates the pain was gone. I now have two other pairs of Super Feet in my running shoes and my shoes for work.

I put some yellow superfeet in my Graf's, didn't notice any difference. Although that may be because Graf has some good footbed's if I remember correctly. Either way, I use them; they seem more sturdy and don't make for any discomfort...
