If you invested a few million bucks in RD & D, you can do whatever you want with marketing and releasing a product. Yes, it is still a hockey skate but MSH is full of gear whores so the plan is working!!

I just don't understand why BauEr is being so SECRETIVE! GOD! I mean, just show us the skate! Tell us exactly which NHLers are using them, what their sizes are and what mods have been done! I mean, christ, I buy one skate from them every 5 years! I deserve to know what is on their R&D timetable right now!

All this confidentiality is pointless. All it's done is create some kind of frenzy, building excitement that is bubbling, boiling only to be alleviated once the official release is made resulting in a frothing, cascading fury of purchases! Why would they do such a thing?!?!

It's marketing at it's finest and I really think they should pay this forum for the kind of publicity they're getting. A bunch of guys taking about one thing, the new vapor skate, I think that not even in their wildest dreams they would get such free publicity.

because the anticipation is killing you obviously. and It's killing every gear whore collector who wants to be the first to have them. Thus pre-orders and a "Game Stop on Madden Day" event where people line up at 4 am outside a store that opens at 8. Do you think those people are going to try on an X:60 and decide it's not for them? then add the average hockey player who is considering new skates, and ALL he hears about is the X:60. not the U+, or the S17/SE16 or any graf. Bauers new skate is dominating his attention with barely a dime spent.

It probably is not going to be much different than the U+ in idea..Just my worthless opinion, but probably a better looking skate perhaps. The U+ is just plain ugly :)

The X:60 and the U+ are miles apart in many, many ways.

Are they the same concept? Or entirely different concept..I think it goes w/o saying that the X60 will be of a different material. I havent paid a whole hell of a lot of attention to the new X60, but from what I've read (skimmed) on here, is that it'll be more of a vaccum fit of the Vapors? Kind of like the CCM U+ idea? Thanks for any corrections or additional information.

One is a step forward in the Vapor series with a lot of positives built into it. The U+ is it's own stand alone skate. It's kind of like comparing an RBK 9K Pump to any other skate. Only the 9K Pump has the pump. Each top-of-the-line skate is different. That is all I really wanted to clarify.

Guy, I'm not sure, but you may or may not need to relax a little bit. You buying a Bauer skate every 5 years does not exactly warrant the company's release of very important information. Don't you understand that building up this much hype could, in the end, be worth millions of dollars to Bauer's income in 2009? Something they're definitely going to need seeing as they were recently dropped from under Nike's wing, not to mention the current economy.

Buying a pair of skates every 5 years certainly doesn't make you special. Some skaters, speaking from personal experience, go through as many as 2-3 pairs a season, depending on your playing level.

Come on now, use the old noggin a little bit.

Don't you understand sarcasm? VL was just exemplifying (albeit a bit over the top ) what hundreds of little hockey players are saying. Hockey players with their birthdays likely right around the corner and $XX amount of money to spend.

Buy a new pair every 5 years? Try their new top of the line skate every 18 months...Everytime I use the excuse "I only bought them because my foot has stopped growing. Therefore a top of the line skate will last me forever. I'll never need to buy again." But oh how badly I enjoy buying....

i'm glad somebody got it. hehe.

I completely understand the frustration. Hell, I wasn't at the shop when our rep brought the skate in so imagine how I feel. I'm allowed to see it, but missed my opportunity! But, it's Bauer's product and they can control it however they want. And honestly, pictures are worth 1000 words, but all of those words are useless until you try the skate on.

Are you sure your Flexlite foot is going to fit into a Vapor boot?

yes, because I have a skinny foot, I bought the flexlites because back then I didn't knew so much (like I do now, thank you www.modsquadhockey.com :D )and they seemed ok. ohhh.... and they're size 8.5EE, I think I can put a hamster with my foot in a skate and he would still have room to run around :P
