Bauer Classic Gold Skates

Recommended Posts

We took apart a Bauer Classic Gold Skate. Here is what they look like. There are a lot of parts that go into stitching up a skate.

why did you take it apart? other than the obvious 'taking shit apart is effin' awesome!'

Steve wasn't going to wear them anymore and it's not the first time we've done this in the shop!!

Now all you have to do is add some white leather on them and sell them on eBay for $750. ;)

I think you got something there, that's not a bad idea :P

I loved those skates, almost bought em 5 years ago but went with the 6000's. They need to re-introduce something like this into the lineup, maybe a little lighter

Those things were bricks. I loved the idea but they were much heavier than the other top end skates at the time.

Didn't help the classic golds at all that they came out in the same line as the 8090 which is still one of the (if not the) lightest skates bauer ever made. The 8090 is still bauer's best skate imo.

8090 is one of "those" products.

The 8090 is a fine skate. Better than Vapor's Grafs that I've tried. Mine are getting to the point of being destroyed in the next season of beer league. On to something else I guess.

The Classic Gold's came out in the same line as the 8000's and the Vapor XX's, at least a year, possibly 2 before the 8090. If I remember correctly the Classic Gold's fit very similarly to the 8090s.

Yeah, golds came out 1 model year before the 8090. All of them were still on the market at the same time though. And no, the gold didn't fit like 8090's. I owned both and the golds fit very much like the old 7000 but with more padding in the ankle and slightly wider last. Depth and width wise they might as well have been vices compared to the 8090.
