Recommended Posts

I would like to thank all of you for help. I tryied both today and in the end I bought TPS. They fit better to me.

Does anyone else think the thumb on the R8 is too long? I love pretty much everything about the glove, but the thumb - in my opinion - is too long, and is constantly interfering with the index finger.

Again, just my opinion.

This may be a simple question, but I'm in the market for new gloves, and I'm wondering how comparable the TPS HGT's are to the retail Bauer 4-Rolls. I have a pair of nylon pro-stock HGT's, and before those I had the retail leather. My LHS does not have the HGT's anymore, but will be getting the Bauer's in. I have yet to try them for myself. Just looking for some comparative opinions between the two gloves to know whether the order TPS online or wait on Bauer's.

You really cant go wrong with either choice. They are both top notch gloves.

I would hate to add another choice, but if you are not fond of the R8 lite with leather, you also have the choice of the HGR8PRO...pro lite 8 all nylon:

EWH also does them in nylon with plaster inserts, dunno if the HG ones have them. good price though :)

I have had both pairs of gloves and by my opinion I loved the bauers so much more. on the TPS pair the palm wears out really fast. The bauers are way more durable and more comfortable.

After a year on my R8 Lites there's a hole in the first layer on my top hand palm, and that's it as far as wear goes. For the feel of the palms I don't think that's sacrificing much durability.

I dont think you can go wrong with either. I've tried on a pair of the TPS gloves and I thought they fit nicely. I own a pair of retail NBH 4 rolls and another pair of SDPRos..I love them both. I have a couple of team mates that rock the TPS gloves and will wear nothing else even if they dont match the colors of our jerseys.

Bauer gloves seem to wear out faster in my experience, bot for me and the guys on my teams.

Out of curiosity, which specific models of Bauer are you talking about?

From what I have seen the recent supreme / vapor lines seem to be less durable than the 4-rolls. My 4-rolls have been absolute tanks, especially the synthetic leather pro-stocks.

I had pretty good longevity in the nash palms that were on my pro HGT's. Got a year and a bit out of them before I noticed major holes. Do the two gloves fit the same, or is one more loose than the other?

ive tried both on but never played with either,

my initial impressions were...

bauer: very roomy on the inside. more so than the newer 4 rolls

tps: comfy but a the fingers were too wide for my hands. felt like a baseball glove.

You actually found the new Bauer 4-Rolls roomier than the NBH ones? I own the NBH ones and tried on the same size Bauer ones and found that the Bauer's felt a bit tighter (on the "sides" of the hand). Probably out of my mind.

I don't know if you were out of your mind - I had heard that the 4-rolls were essentially unchanged other than the new bauer print without the swoosh

New liner. Oh yeah, and for the record those are the original 4 rolls before nike ever came along, not the new bauer ones. The new bauer ones have the capital e, there quite a bit alike though.

I don't think you're crazy. I thought the new ones felt a little tighter too.

That actually sounds nice to me because I loved the old bauer 4-rolls but they were -very- roomy, even for me and I like the more loose traditional fits. Slightly more snug would probably be a good thing.

Good to hear that I'm NOT going out of my mind :P

If that's the case, the new Bauer 4-Rolls are very comfy. I'd trade in my NBH pair for the new set in a heartbeat.

sorry for all the confusion guys, i was comparing the NBH 4 rolls with the older SDP's. haha I found the SDP's very roomy with the more current being a bit tighter.

I should have read my post before i posted it! haha it did cause quite a stir tho.
