Cascade is a quality company putting out quality lids, and I'll support them any day of the week. I use a CHX, and I love it. Can't wait to give this helmet a try.

I honestly don't understand people griping about the CHX's aesthetic. Honestly, it doesn't look anything out of the 'ordinary' in context of any other helmet on the market. I get it though, we see the same thing in Skate, BMX and Moto...most posers prefer fashion over function.

Depends on how you define poser.

Personally, I didn't buy the CHX simply because I wasn't in the market for a helmet. I am now, so if the small fits I might go with it. IMO it's about as ugly as the Bauer 1500, but if it fit I might have gone for it.

I currently wear the Cascade and previously I wore the Bauer 1000, tried the CCM 852 but it didn't seem to fit right, and also tried a Nike Quest and it didn't fit right. I've had the Cascade about two years. It is durable but it is really really hot. I would at least try on the new one. Hopefully they corrected that.

The funny thing is they told me that they had no complaints about heat when I first saw them at the show a couple years ago. It's really sad when you try to help a manufacturer and they look at you like you have no idea what you're talking about. Then they change most/all of the stuff you told them was wrong with the next version of the product because so much of their feedback was exactly what we told them.

I dont think its ugly really. The nike quest was the most under rated helmet of all time, amazing comfort and protection but nobody could get past its awful looks .. except my mom who bought it for me in peewee because she liked it.

This helmet is to retail for $139.99 for helmet and $159.99 for the combo. What does this retail compare to interms of other helmets?

Where did you get this information? The helmet is to retail for $119.99 for helmet and $139.99 for the combo.

Just saw Mark yesterday in Traverse City (MI) for Prospects camp. Watched NYR vs. ATL game (sitting next to ATL GM for 3rd P)..Didn't see any of the kids wearing the lid..all RBK and Bauer. You'd think he'd have at least One of the kids trying it out while he was there to get some constructive feedback.

Helmet would have to be approved by the NHL, which it probably isn't at this point.

happens ALL the time, in almost every industry. it bothers the hell out of me.

Do a little research will you before slagging on this bucket:

Bauer 9500: $150 Retail

Easton S17: $190 Retail

Reebok 8K: $195 Retail

CCM Vector 10: $120 Retail

Mission Intake: $140 Retail

Given that this helmet is supposedly going to retail for $120, it doesn't look like Cascade is trying to take anyone for a ride.

Pretty much the most expensive (assuming you're talking USD) probably a tie between the 8k and this for most expensive.

More feedback:

The kid I talked to said it was VERY well ventilated and really light. He was coming from the 8k.

Hope to talk to some more when they are off the ice.

You're overpaying BIG time for a helmet

I saw Easton S17s for sale at $75 during Westwood's tent sale last month

I agree with the previous poster. Those are pretty high prices for those helmets you listed. Most of the helmets in my area are at least $20 to $30 cheaper.

9500s are $150, S17s are $140, 8ks are $140, V10s are $120 and this helmet should be about 110-120.

as for 190 for an s17, and 75 for it... 190 person is ripping you off, at 75 you are either doing tow things; someone's weekend special sale or they ordered a crap load of them, don't care that there is a minimum price and don't care that they could lose their easton gear for a year or so just so they can get rid of them.

warrior's top-end helmet should be about 130 :P :o

Guys, these are suggested retail prices not street prices. Since that is what is being talked about in the case of the new M11 helmet, I am trying to compare apples to apples. We all know that by the time they hit the street the price will be lower.

Those prices i listed are the minimum they can sell them for, and unless a shop wants to go out of business and have all their business go to hockeymonkey and totalhockey, they need to keep there prices at that price as well. shops aren't allowed to sell products unless it has been discontinued bellow a minimum price (MAP). They can have specials but they cannot advertise the price of the product or a percentage off a certain product (ie; 30% off Easton helmets, or S17 for $80, etc) unless they feel like getting wrath from a company.
