Bauer warranty - I think I screwed up

Recommended Posts

I bought a Vapor XXV on Aug 6th. It was delivered to me on Aug 11th. The blade cracked in the middle today. Thinking I had it for 40-50 days I stopped at my LHS and they cut the blade off to make it a shaft and then had them put a new wood blade on the other end.

First, does the 30 day warranty start on Aug 6 when purchased or on Aug 11th when FedEx delivered it? Second, if it still is under the 30 day, will Bauer still help me since I had my LHS chop off the end?

Starts at the date of purchase, and once you cut it, I'm sure it voids the warranty.

i dont think so.

i know easton's warranty will allow you to cut the stick so you dont have to pay oversized shipping or whatever.

but you still have to send both pieces back.

not sure what bauer's policy is.

regardless...you are right that it starts the date of purchase. so that means its too late anyways.

I do believe Bauer lets you do the same as Easton...they allow you to make one cut in the shaft area if IIRC...talk it up with them they should be able to help you out.

But to cut the blade off completely?

Well from my experience with returns to SWD and CCM it starts the day you received the product. They just asked that I included the shipping delivery tracking invoice from UPS/Fedex to show the actual delivery date. Obviously the stick is not being used while in transit.

I don't think cutting the blade off will be a problem either, so long as you include it with the shaft. Like Ebondo says, they allow one cut in the shaft....however that is usually the the middle to make it cheaper for shipping. Still, I don't think this will be an issue as long as you have both pieces and the shipping details.

warranty is 30 days. so if you got it on 8-11 you are still within the 30 day time frame.

also just to let you know that the xxv is a fused ops so you can the hosel out of the tapered end and you get a tapered shaft.

Give them a polite call, explain the situation, and see what they'll do for you. Some customer service departments are outstanding these days and I've heard good things about Bauer's.

a little off topic, and not trying to hijack... but i looked around and couldn't find any information on the specific topic. i bought a NBH vapor xxxx stick and it's already starting to crack on the blade. if i replace this through the warranty program (since its under 30 days) what should i be getting in return from bauer? anyone have some recent experience with what would be replaced?

I broke my Vapor XXV and sent it in, and today I received a One95!

I think I'll pick up a cheap XXV and then break it just so I can maybe get a One95 back. :)
