While I'm very disappointed that they didn't go back to 1930 with the brown based one and the Quakers jersey for the flyers, they needed to bring back a yellow jersey a la early Bobby Orr for a while now. This fits the bill quite nicely.

The thing that bugs me about it is they made it up. The logo as it is on that jersey never existed, and the only jersey that had that B was a white jersey. The other jersey for the one year it existed was a black with a huge block B, no wheel.

They flyers have that issue too. The whole point of the white nameplate on the oranges was that they took the nameplates for the whites and used them for national games. Those nameplates were white, not black, which is why they're white on the oranges!

Seriously, the bruins have a huge variety of actual historic designs to choose from. They don't need to make shit up. The flyers didn't need to do that, it's such a simple thing to get right, especially after explaining the history of the white nameplate on the oranges last year, now they forget it and screw it up completely.

And yes, that is Carrie Milbank.

The thing is they can do that by just bringing back an actual throwback that nobody produces for a vintage line or anything like that. There are lots of options, they don't have to make anything up. the bruins is in a way more forgivable since all of the elements they put together are actually found somewhere in the team history. The flyers just pulled those nameplates out of their ass.

but you would get the same merchandising effect if you brought back the accurate jersey as you get if you bring back one that's been screwed up.

If you watch the video, Cam Neely explains why they chose to use gold in the sweaters. I'm not sure what you mean by the logo has never existed though. It was used during their 25th anniversary.

I like the idea. They pieced together something unique by taking components of throwbacks. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

I liked the idea of the gold as well. But it's the awful Bear head on the front and the non-traditional striping that will make that the worst Jersey in B's history. IMO
