Blue Jackets 09-10

Recommended Posts

that Filatov kid is going to be a very good hockey player.

antoine vermette seems pretty happy as he is playing pretty hard too.

why isnt Derick Brassard producing at all yet?

he is supposedly a really good player (a bit banged up with injuries in the past though)

he has some good promise to him

you arent the only one my friend. i love good hockey no matter what team it is and columbus is fun to watch =)

Jackets fan here (also a sharks fan)

OK -- so as much as I want to see them make the post season again and win a game/series this time - they really have their work cut out for them this year. STL and ANA were the two teams who finished behind them that made the playoffs last year in the West. I see both teams and Dallas being way better this year vs. last year. Hopefully (yet highly doubtful) one of the teams ahead of them last year will fail miserably this season.

Also, as a jackets fan and a hockey player -- I didn't think that the Hodrichuk hit was dirty (nor did I think that the Iginla hit was dirty). Hockey is a fast sport and guys are expected to play the game tight. Hordichuk pulled up a bit I thought once he realized that Boll was in a potentially compromising position. Souray lost his footing... Stuff happens. What kills me about the NHL is how guys like Ryan Hollweg (who hit from behind 100% of the time) are still in the league!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Also, I believe in the same game, Rusty Klesla got checked hard from behind. No penalty. That hit to me was far more worthy of a suspension that Hodichuk's..........

Anyways -- back to the CBJ

Voracek looks really good to me this year so far, plus he's got some crazy hair going this season!

I expect big numbers from Brassard and I expect Filatov to shine given some PP time and decent amounts of ice time

Nash continues to develop into a premier power forward in the league -- I can't think of another player in the league right now who has so much size yet such great hands/scoring touch!

Klesla has taken strides every year -- I think that the sweep against Detroit in round 1 was his coming out party. Out of all of the jackets -- he looked like he belonged in the post season the most.

I really like the Pahlson signing, especially after losing Malhotra

And so far Mason looks like he's never heard of a sophomore slump (which is awesome because without him this team has no shot at playoffs).

I'll continue to watch/pray/support/hope that the jackets can put together a solid campaign this year and return to the playoffs!

atta boy Anton Stralman. he scored!!!! i love that guy. i used to watch him with the marlies. what about those jackets. Mason is on fire, i hope he can keep it up. with the hitchcock system, i wouldnt be surprised if they finished top 6 in the west, and got past the first or even the second round.

keep on truckin boys.

once again, shot out to Anton Stralman. you gotta feel for em' Hopefully he can get his career back on track in Columbus and Toronto and Calgary can see what they lost out on.

Been hearing that Filatov is not happy with his ice time. Something like 8 mins a game and is skating on their 4th and 3rd line. Anyone think Hitchcock needs to go? They have a lot of kids with talent and wheels to burn, but there's no spark in Hitchcock's system. Richards was a 30 point man under him and Carter a 40 pt guy, now a 40 goal guy.

Kind of reminds me of Perron and his rookie year. Filatov has plenty to learn about the NA game, didnt look like he much wanted to learn it or was getting the opportunity. 3 turnovers in 1 period is not a good look no matter who you are.

Playing Dallas tonight, pretty gritty game. But that hit on Dorsett by James Neal was extremely dirty. Boarding and went straight for his head. Hopefully Cambpell saw that one (and actually does something about it)

But mason is playing very Strong tonight.

In fairness, those guys were kids then and have grown into the players they are now. They were not going to put up those numbers in their first year. Hitch has actually loosened up quite a bit in Columbus, but he's still a guy that coaches like he is more afraid of losing than truly wanting to win.

Was not aimed at the head, and the intent was certainly not there. Neal will be suspended for that hit though. Minimum of two games is my guess.

There is no reason to hit a guy from behind and come up into him. You never used to see hits like that, now they happen constantly. He may not have had any intent to injure him, but he certainly didn't seem to care if it happened. It's the willingness to hurt other players that is the issue.

Neal was jaw-ing with Dorsett early in the first. Both were roughing it a bit, but Neal wouldn't drop gloves so Daley stepped in to fight. But both continued to talk at each other. It looked to me like Neal knew exactly what he was doing...

Definately out of character from Nealer, but it certainly warrants some disciplinary action. It seems like he was possibly intending to split the two but look at his left skate- rut? or intentional?

The more I see it, I can understand that point. I don't think he intended to ko him, or really go for the head. To me, I think h knew it was Dorsett and wanted to get a hit in and make a play. He just went about it the wrong way. I never thought there was malice or intent to injure. Just a bad play against a vulnerable opponent.

I'm glad dorsett is okay, but his reaction, just kinda made me

laugh (a chuckle or two). After the hit, he went down then came up to his knees, and you could just see it in his eyes. Then he kinda just dropped back like a doll or something. Just reminded me of boxing where a guy gets caught, and they're out cold standing up, then down they go.

Well his phone hearing has already happened, so it's just waiting to see if he gets a suspension or a fine or both.

These guys have got to be one of the worst shootout teams in the league. Mason hasn't been particularly strong in shootouts this year, but the skaters can score to save their lives. Beyond Huselius and Nash none of them have any moves. Tonight Mason held in there for like 12 rounds and the guys couldn't score. Mason was visibly pissed off, slamming his stick and whatnot. I hope they smooth things over right away b/c the last thing you want is a goalie feeling like his team isn't supporting him.

It was an entertaining shootout to say the least. Was there ever an explanation of Mason's gestures during the shootout? The VS guys were making guesses but I never saw any post game comments from him or the team.

The stick swinging or the taunting he gave the 'Hawk players? I'm guessing both were out of frustration. Hell, maybe he was gesturing his own players to get a damn goal. I mean they were going against a shaky Huet.

TSN guessed it was a fire up to his bench to score...I guess like the LB's do in football to get the crowd loud right before the offence snaps the ball.

After the Ballard/Vokoun situation...seeing Mason swing his stick near the bench...must've made a few of the Jacks jump.
