Blacking out helmet

Recommended Posts

I know this has been mentioned before probably, but i was wondering how you would take the logos off a helmet to "black it out". i do not want to just tape over it. Any suggestions?

lots of methods. use the search function.

But they all might compromise protection and will definitely void any warranty on his helmet.

I have a Mission Intake that I needed to black out to put a helmet sticker on. I simply put the sticker on where I wanted and then Sharpied out the remaining logo. it's worked pretty good for the last year. I've needed to touch-up here and there but unless you're standing right next to me AND looking for it you can't tell. a teammate did the same thing with a navy colored CCM helmet and navy Sharpie.

Yeah, avoid the nail polish remover. It is not good for the helmet.

I just used the sharpie method on my Rbk 4K helmet

My helmet before with th ewhite border: rbk4k_helmet_lg.gif

I just blacked out the white border so it resembles this year's model: HL9.jpeg

Can't do anything about the side logos though :P

I know you said you don't want to just tape but its the best option. I used black elctrical on my black 4500, and you can't even see the tape at all. Even if you look for it you can't tell and if you change your mind and decide you want the logos to show all you have to do is take the tape off then.

+1 for electrical tape. you can also use coloured shinpad tape. i used navy shinpad tape on my navy v10 and looks good. but if use electrical tape i like to cut it with scissors. i think its better then a knife

I was going to tell you a little bit of electrical tape would work.. That's what I did If you want I can show you some picks of helmets that I have done

I went Sharpie, but black electrical tape would work nicely. Luckily the 5500 I got has fewer annoying logos than the old Intake.

I had a navy blue 5500 that I stopped using a couple years ago, before I made the mistake of switching to the easton helmet. since it wasn't being used anymore, I decided to try my hand at removing the logos, and here's what I had the best results with.

1. Go to autozone/NAPA autoparts

2. Buy rubbing compound (preferably low abrasion)

3. squeeze rubbing compound onto a clean rag and rub the logos off

4. give the helmet a quick once-over with clear acryllic-bonding spray paint.

Good Luck
