kredmore 2 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 Guys, take it for what it is, a kids' movie that happens to center around a hockey player.Correct. I'm a hockey fan/player like the rest and understand it's not a hockey movie. My two oldest kids (6&8) were excited at the preview - the tooth fairy and hockey! And mom happens to be a dentist! cptjeff 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 We need a good hockey movie to restore the reputation of the sport. Miracle was great, but the next two big ones that come out are the Love Guru and this.Bleh.probably not "BIG" but I loved The Rocket.I was thinking that came out before Miracle for some reason. And it wasn't a big release here in the states at all. But I do agree, it's a damn good movie.
Big Glove Save 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2010 but thats not the point this movie looks god awfull and against everything the rock has ever done I am not all that observant on the acting career of Johnson but for the passed few years he seems happily steered towards playing the athletic stooge in a few Disney movies. I think his Walking Tall remake is the only movie I have seen of his though and it was passable. Maybe he is just settling for the easy money like many of us sometimes hope for. Still... Jebus! And mom happens to be a dentist! One thing I've realized the past couple of years is the eight- to twelve-year-old brain spins differently than ours. The Big D and I have learned not to speak badly of a movie because we don't want to prejudice the young ladies, who will tell us, "That movie was great!!!!"However, I don't try to compare movies like The Tooth Fairy with Braveheart; I compare them to Kicking And Screaming or Aliens In The Attic. They're just meant to be wholesome movies with an occasional funny line. I wouldn't pay $10 per person at the theater, but you can bet I'll enjoy them for $1 at Redbox. Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted January 12, 2010 care to enlighten law? I haven't seen a decent hockey movie in a long time. Give us some details...or at least some hints ;)Not my project, so I won't go into what few details I have: let it suffice to say that it's a great premise with lots of interesting angles, and a very capable and industry-savvy MSH member involved. It's not just a hockey movie for the sake of a hockey movie; it's got legs.

Anyone else see that clip from the movie of his 'superman' flying goal???This movie sets hockey players back like 20 years. Please, it's a kids movie. The worst it will do is make some 6 year old ask his/her parents if he can play hockey like the Tooth Fairy guy. Did Angels in the Outfield kill baseball? flyerman 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2010 My 6 year old daughter has been begging me to take her. She asked her Mom but she deferred to me because it "has hockey in it." So I promised my daughter I'd take her tomorrow. Oh God, what we do for our kids! She's about to lose her first tooth, so I guess it's not a totally lost cause. TBLfan 25 Report post Posted January 29, 2010 I never really liked Sheckler, but I guess hes a good skateboarder hah, but the rock takes some weird roles. I feel like hes trying to just put his foot in the door and then hopefully he will get a bigger role.He got his foot in the door, with movies like "The Rundown" and "Walking Tall," two pretty good action movies. He also had "Gridiron Gang" which I thought he was great in. I think he's just trying to broaden his range, and replicate what Vin Diesel did in "The Pacifier." Unfortunately he doesn't realize the Pacifier was really dumb, and so was the last kiddie comedy with a touch of sports that the Rock did.I saw him talking in an interview, from what I gather he was really looking for something his daughter would like.He also mentioned that he couldn't skate worth a crap and knew there was no chance he would ever be able to learn. He also mentioned that he had a lot of respect for hockey players because he knows he could never do it.He regained some dignity with that interview IMO.
