I was planning on getting the warrior dolomite....i dont know whether i should i get the 75 flex or 85....im 5'7" 150lbs ive been using 85 flex one pieces and cutting them down about 6inches which i know takes alot of flex away....i was wondering how much of a difference there would be in a 75 flex

Well I'm 6' 0" and I dont cut my sticks, he's 5" shorter than me and cuts his sticks 6". I'd assume I'm kinda normal and he just likes his sticks a little shorter.

Why not try an intermediate stick, unless you enjoy the super stiff flex. My intermediate stick is only an inch or 2 shorter than my SR dolomite, so by the time you cut it down another 4 inches you'll have a 85/90 flex.

If I were to use an 85 cut down 6", I wouldn't be able to flex it. Using a 75, I can flex it a little bit. The intermediate might flex a little bit, a lot. Depends on how whippy you like your sticks.

a few sugestions;

REEBOK Mid flex - starts @ 58 inches and is a 75 flex (Standards are 60 inches)

CCM Mid flex - starts @ 57 inches and is a 75 flex

New Bauer Vapor series Intermidiate comes in a 75 flex now and is 57 inches. Hockeymonkey is the only one that I have seen cary the retail version or if you want to you can get a BauerID One95 or X60 in this style.

TPS R8 WHIP Flex "Pro Feel" is a great shaft or stick that starts @ 70 flex (60 in), bust is still very flexable after you cut it 5 + inches.

I have posted on other forums, but just came across this one and thought I would comment.

Problem - finding a stick to fit, I like handling the puck in close so a short shaft I like.

I am 5'6" and need a 60-65 flex with the length of about 57"(give or take an inch) having the toe on the floor and the butt just under my chin on bare feet. In other words a shaft length from the butt to the joint of the blade would be about 48-49" depending upon how the length is calculated.

The Miken sticks looked to be the solution as I have stated on another forum, but they have not returned my email asking about where are the retailers! There are fewer retailers now and with little selection! I have heard comments about Milken so I am looking for other sources.

In NON Milken sticks I can get either a junior for length, but too flexible or intermediate that leaves to cut 6-7" off, turning it into a 75-80 flex, too stiff.

Anybody in my category? Perhaps I will have to start looking at just shafts + blade - something that I just thought about now!

Thanks - Alan

I've heard Miken has gone out of business, there is a topic about it on this board. Look into Warrior sticks, they carry a Int in a 55 flex. Cut down it should just about do the trick.

Without the Miken Accuflex option, I would look into Base. One of their options should work for you.

Thanks, I will look into the Warrior brand.

Thanks Chadd, another option. I am glad I posted on a couple of boards as the members, including me, are not always on the "same page".

I will do a search on the Base and Warrior (from XveritasX) or ask my LHS if they can be ordered.

Thanks again - Alan

Why not try the Sher-Wood T series... they have a flex free zone of 4" where you can cut the shaft and the stick remains the same flex.

Pretty sweet if you ask me, not sure why all companies are not doing this.

Great,

Now we have Sher-Wood, Warrior and Base as possibilities. I will look at Sher-Wood's T series a little later.

Between the Warrior and Base, my choice may be with the Base and now I can look at Sher-Wood's.

Thanks a lot everyone! - Alan

Buying an Internediate stick!

Not many options online for a low flex - 50-60 for the Sherwood, all I see are 70s. Same goes with Warrior.

Base seems like a nice alternative & I could get one my size but pricy. Also, they don't want to answer many question by email, they want you to call and seem to try and push a sale!

At my LHS I have located a 55 flex Warrior Bandito for 1/2 price at $60 that seems to have a nice flex. This would be at the point where I cut off my previous sticks.

Anyone have experience with this model or should I look at Base and get a better one - under $200?

Thanks - Alan

I had an old warrior dolomite in 55 flex and it was awesome, but after a while the blade started chipping, while I haven't had the bandito, I do have to note that I have always done better with warrior sticks until they start to break, and for 60$ it can't really hurt to try it out, or you can try to find a dolomite in 55 flex also.

Thanks Zjack38.

I think you are right, but just this the single, right hand 55 flex Bandito is on sale.

There are no other Warrior or Sherwood 55 flex sticks left.

Tomorrow I will go to the LHS with my Bauer Intermediate TotalOne and match it as to flex. If it is more flexible at my cutting length really should purchase it and maybe wait until Christmas to order from Base if I feel I need it.

Hey man. I'm 26, 5'1 and 165 lbs so I always have this problem when looking for sticks (I cut down to about my nose). I've basically either gone with a Warrior Int 55 flex or a Bauer Int 60 flex (I was ecstatic when they started offering these). Keep in mind though that other factors, mainly shaft dimensions, played into my stick choices. Right now I have an old Dolomite and TotalOne (which I both bought used but in GREAT condition for $80 total). Both sticks broke near the blades but now I just use them as shaft/blade combos

Another vote for Intermediate sticks for those who are shorter/lighter and prefer a shorter stick. Switching over to Int. is one of the best things I've done for my game. My shots are more accurate, powerful and quicker now.

I've used Warrior AK 55 flex. I was able to flex it really well on wristers and had an accurate rocket with it. However, it got a little too whippy when stick handling sometimes. Also it broke after a couple of months.

Since then, I've been using a 70 flex Dolo shaft + blade combo. It's been my favorite stick.

65 flex for this stick would be perfect but 70 still suits me well.
