Easton S19 any new experiences? reviews? personal opinions?

Recommended Posts

I've done a search and i couldn't seem to find any updated information about people's experience with this stick.

I've read the review, in the other Review forum, but i'm trying to gather more info about this stick.

Anyway, How is this stick? i've noticed a lot of NHL'ers have swtched and currenly is using this stick.

How does the stick compare to the X60? One95? U+ ( i have these 3 sticks, cracked the x60 blade).

Easton s19 worth the price premium?

I play hockey 2-3 times a week in a fairly competitive beer league (C/D divs).

Between this and the X60 I've seen a lot of minor hockey players using them. In my beer league I think I've seen 2 or three of them? I've heard good things about them, mostly that the blade doesn't wear down as fast as the S17. Basically if you've used and liked an S17, you'll like the S19 as it is an improvement on that stick.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I've used the s17 for a handful of games until i got my hands on a One95. I dont remember the s17's feeling as someone wanted to buy it off me and i sold it at the time (since the one95 came in).

Over the past season, i've changed the way i've shot (mostly take snappers or wristers).

I liked the X60 but it was a bit 'pingy". How does the s19 compare? does all the eliptical tech. stuff really work?

dont be fooled by the nhl, a lot of those guys are using sticks that LOOK like S19.

that said, i have one and i love it. it doesn't seem as fragile as my S17, and the response is great.

I have a question (sorry to thread jack just need a quick response) with the s17 having gone so far down in price, is it still worth picking up just because it shoots really well? I figured 200 bux on a stick that is very likely to break easily isn't worth it. but 150 dollars?

Go on hockey monkey and you can get two for $220 I believe, which is totally worth it. They don't break easily, just wear down easy in my experience. Still a great stick.

Captain of my beer league team swears by them. He buys almost every top of the line stick that comes out and has stuck with the s19's all season. Great benefit for everybody else because he just hands out sticks he doesn't like.

I had a pro-stock s17 and loved it, was an iggy retail pattern on it. Got the S19 when it came out in the iggy pattern and hated it. I mirrored the cut I had in the pro-stock s17, small end plug, and right down to the tape job. I think the biggest problem with it was the feel or the way it was shaped but it felt clumsy.

sure the s17 wasn't just a s17 paint job? most likely it isn't a s17 under the paint

No kidding. How many pros are using s19's that are even have an elliptical taper? Not that many. My big bone to pick with Easton is that they're becoming the new Warrior, overpricing old technology. Plenty of the se16 pro stocks are basically the 4 year old Synergy/SE design with a new paint job and a lighter wooden extension. How many pro stock s19's are ST's? If the retail s19 was worth $249, you can bet your ass more pros would be using them. Then again, this applies to almost every top of the line pro stock you see, maybe with the one95 as an exception.

Your S17 was most likely not an actual S17. Chances are it was either an Elite or an ST dressed as an S17.

This might be a little off topic, but I just wanted to voice a little concern of mine. My only fear in purchasing more Easton sticks (besides the financial burden) is the thought that "What if this is a bad batch of sticks?" You know, the ones people have horror stories about, when they break on the first pass or shot. I would love to "whore" out my collection by purchasing a couple more sticks, but when you buy in bulk I guess you run the risk of getting a bad stick. And since you buy in bulk, you are more likely going to run out your warranty period. I don’t know. I really don’t know why I went off on that tangent, diarrhea of the mouth I guess. But what are the odds of getting bad batches of sticks? That is what I am getting at! I know you can pick up sticks now a days at really good prices, but what are the odds they could be "lemons"?

I just wish I still had access to pro stock sticks. Boy those days were sweet!

See this is the exact same gripe i have.

I see a lot of pros use the s19, it's priced the highest on the market, easton surely dumps a lot of marketing budget into this stick, but i cannot seem to find a lot of decent reviews/personal experiences.

Now if ask about the one95, i'm sure i would get an entire thread full of people speaking about it personally.

So is the stick a yay or a nay?

I just realized that phil kessel is using a s19 and has scored ever since he started using it. Surely he is using an actual s19 and not some re-painted stick, since he is sponsored by Bauer.

I've only used my S19 for one week so I really can't comment yet. The reason you aren't hearing a lot about the S19 is because the high price is scaring consumers away and the poor blade durability on the S17 is scaring away the rest. The only reason I happened to buy one was to spend a piece of the good ol' annual bonus.

I've been using a pro stock S19 for a couple weeks and it's a lot better than the S17. I did like the S17 but the blade became soft way too fast and *knock on wood* I haven't had this problem yet. I wish I had a retail model to compare it to but when I can get a pro one for half the price, I'm going with that over retail.

It was a S17 had the elliptical taper and everything.

Might've had a different coating on the blade, different rocker, lie, etc...

Really? I don't know if it's price so much as they might not like the stick.

As for a bad batch I think the bad batches usually come during the first run of sticks. By this point you should be fine.

Possible, The blades and lie were exact. The Pro-Stock had a squared shaft and the S19s had rounded shafts.

From my experience with my S19

I've owned many Synergy Elites, Se16's and S17's.

The S19 has AMAZING snapping power!! My snapshot is faster than some of the guys slapshots. If you're a guy that loves to snapshot more than anything, I'd highly recommend try using an S19. It's also way stronger than the S17, I've been slashed a few times and even had the blade get caught between the boards and still fine.

I wish Easton made more curvy blades or even better more of a toe curve. I use an Iginla curve, its short, which I'm starting to like but it's damn accurate.

Coming from someone who rotates through the S19/Dolomite DD/one95, I like the S19 the most of the three. I feel that it's less pingy than the S17 (my previous Easton of choice), and the blade feels a bit more lively. I think that the other two sticks (one95 and DD) have a bit more puck feel, but the S19's true worth is that it's the best-shooting stick I've ever had. It's my opinion that the top-of-the-line Easton's flex rating is pretty true, unlike the S17. Finally, I've had pretty good luck with the S19's durability (I play in a pretty competitive 30-40 year-old men's league, so take that for what it's worth). My S17's blades would get pretty chipped/soft after a while; however, the S19's blade looks/feels great since I picked it up at release. Just my two cents' worth.

Petition for Easton to make the shanny pattern again anyone?
