Hockeyman11385 1 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 Thought that there must be some college hockey fans out there. It looks like ESPN U is carrying quite a few games. There's already been quite an upset today with RIT beating Denver 2-1 earlier today. Obviously, I am rooting for Vermont but it's going to be tough against Wisconsin later tonight. What are everyone's thoughts? Who's going to take it all?
mug25 2 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 I was a little bothered that I dont get ESPN U in HD...I hate watching standard def games.
Hockeyman11385 1 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 Yeah I agree with that. It's supposed to be in HD on DirecTV by the end of the first quarter, probably just after the tournament is over.

Steve_v3 289 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 I live in Worcester & love going to the regionals when there here. Sadly :( I'm not going this year. Greatest game I ever saw was UMaine vs. Michigan in the Frozen four. UMaine won 4-3 in triple OT.

sitzlejd 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 I'm a Miami grad and that BU game from last year is one of the worst sports moments I've ever had. I was gripping pretty hard last night watching them in OT v. Michigan, especially since Michigan just beat the snot out of them in the CCHA tourney. Miami pulled out the W, but Michigan would have won if not for a quick whistle that negated a 3rd period goal. Now we have BC who has beat Miami in the tournament several times. I hate how there are two weeks off between games too.
JR Boucicaut 3797 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Anyone going?I gave up my tickets a couple of months ago - if I knew what I know now, I wouldn't have. Strictly on a networking standpoint.
greech 4 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Tickets can be had on the cheap for the FF just looking around this morning. Had to turn down face value seats today, but I've got commitments and can't get out there.
JR Boucicaut 3797 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Well the initial plan was to use ALL of Ford Field, but due to the shit-tastic economy in Metro Detroit, the CCHA decided to put the rink in the end zone and build temp seating on the field.
psh 25 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Was the ice bad in Worcester during the regionals? The games I saw looked really slow for some reason. Sadly, I think tickets will be easy to get. Doesn't Ford field seat 60,000+?

JR Boucicaut 3797 Report post Posted March 29, 2010 Does Tampa Bay still own the record for largest indoor game? I believe it is, with 28k at the Thunderdome/Tropicana Field.
hockeyfreak7 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2010 Anyone feel like that will detract from the atmosphere? Having a stadium only about 50-55% full...Sometimes an average 20,000 seat arena that is so densely packed can add another dimension to the game; especially at a college event like the frozen four. As I said before, last year's frozen four was absolutely insane. I honestly can't compare the electricity of the crowd at Verizon Center to anything I have ever seen before. The FF is our game's showcase, and having it in a garbage environment will detract from that. Not to mention that the 3 biggest games of the year are to be decided on a temporary sheet of ice. A lot of fans are upset with the NCAA over this year's tournament, raising prices for regional tournaments to the point where they were something like 1/3rd full. Not to mention, people had to shell out big bucks a year ago to stay in the Frozen Four ticket lottery for upcoming years, but you can now get tickets for short money a week before the event. I've been to regional games in New England that were 1/2 full because BC or BU either weren't there or got bumped in the first round, and that was when tickets were reasonably cheap.
