The EPL is without question the best league, which is a pain for me to say because I'm a Serie A fan myself. The reason diving is not enforced though is because it's too much of a judgement call and a lot of times players may actually be falling, but embellishing it so much that it seems like diving. In reality though, they are just trying to do whatever they can to win ("if you're not cheating, you're not trying") by trying to force free kicks and card players out of games.

It is bad enough that I have to watch select NHLers do it, let alone an entire field full of soccer players. Diving is just one of the things that makes soccer a joke. The ridiculous mystery calls and impact that referees can have is another.

I don't doubt that there is a ridiculous amoutn of skill/practice necessary to do what they do with a ball...but it is so overshadowed by bad refs and worse dives.

You mean brown ball football? I meant by my post that these guys have a lot of skill, but when they dive, they show none. A fish could be a soccer player for all of the necessary skill used in flopping.

Yes. I think we agree here, diving is an unnecessary and unfortunate byproduct of an otherwise highly skilled game.

If they were smart they wouldn't go back.

I know this is a generalization, but, is it just me or does it seem that countries that originate from spain dive worse than everyone else? This Chile game is pretty ridiculous. And the game between Chile and Honduras was pretty bad in the first game. Spain Honduras will probably be bad too

Also, South America is undefeated thus far, I don't see anyone mentioning that here. With New Zealand surprising everyone as well, maybe the hemispheric advantage is coming into play. :P

One of my friends and I talked about this before the World Cup started, it would seem like a South American country would have the best odds at winning because the climate is much similar than European countries (not to mention European countries historically don't do well outside of Europe)
