Turco done with Dallas

Recommended Posts

Flyers have $48M committed for next year, not including Asham, Carcillo, Parent, Krajicek and Coburn, or their replacements. I'd also rather see Leighton there than Boucher, even if it is only as the backup.

I will miss seeing Marty in net with the Stars. Had a few rough spots in the last couple of season, but he was still a blast to watch. I wouldnt mind him with the Wings if he settles for a back up roll.

Oh how quickly the team and people in Dallas gave up on Turco. Lehtonen won't be much better.

How long do you stick with somebody who has the yips?

No

Don't be so quick.

Don't be so quick.

First they have to find someone to take Huet's $5m+, not to mention the cap issues they already have with their roster. Plus, I don't think he's the guy you want behind that type of team.

I'm curious to know what happened with Turco. He was an amazing goalie for years. Any Stars fans have theories of why his game fell off so hard?

If the Habs let one of their young goalies go, I wouldn't be surprised if the Habs signed him as a back up/mentor for whichever goalie stays in Montreal. Both are RFA but I highly doubt that they will want to share the net the same way they did this year. On top of that I wouldn't be surprised to see a team make an offer sheet to Price or Halak provided a team has enough draft picks to do so in order to compensate Montreal in the event that they would submit an offer sheet that Montreal wouldn't match.

I don't think Price or Halak is worth the price they would have to pay in terms of picks if they signed one of them to an offer sheet.

The defense went to shit, thus exposing Turco's ability to make only a few astounding saves per game and let all the routine shots in the net.

In all fairness, he was in the middle of the pack in terms of save % and GAA. That said, his team was better than average (11th) in terms of scoring.

Love that video. I laughed so hard watching it live.

As far as what happened, Krev is exactly right. Our defense, and later our "defensive system" went down the drain. Almost seems like thats why Marty could only make the amazing-he-shouldn't-have-had-a-chance saves, and lets all the soft, 5-hole, give-me-a-break-you're-a-butterfly-goalie stuff in.

I'm not exactly sold on Lethonen yet either, however, Ulf Dahlen just got canned by Frolunda. If Joe doesn't do everything he can to bring him back to Big D, I may just eat my hat.

Love the little shrug at the end. Might as well eh?

I was at that one, so I didn't get to see it until I got home.

Went to sign into yahoo and it was a video on their main page.

Turco miked up for the 2009(? the one in Dallas recently) All-Star game absolutely made that game for me.

I don't think Marty's to blame for Dallas' performance at all. Maybe a (in his prime) Hasek or Brodeur could have won a few more games, but their problems go much deeper than goal.
