I plan on putting Tuuks on the CLs if I went with those, I'm still debating which one to get.I want something that won't shit out on me in 6 months.

Could someone tell me what the tongue is like?

I used to play in the old Vectors (3.0. Yeah, I know :D) which had a very soft tongue which I really liked. I recently got a pair of Bauer One95's and *think* one of the problems I'm having with them is that the tongue is too stiff for me (and the fit is kinda weird overall. Yeah, I had them baked.), so I'm thinking about going back to CCM's since they seem to fit me better.

I know the specs say "Armoured tongue", but wth is that? Is it stiffer than the One95's...?

Yeah, that's my thing. Really don't like having the tongue behind my shin guards.

You don't happen to know how big of a difference it is "flop-wise" compared to Bauers One95? Or maybe rather how bendable it is, compared to the One95?

Went in to the hockey shop to purchase a new pair of skates. I told him I was interested in the U+CL. Tried them on and I thought the fit was good. Heel-lock is improved but not the best for me. I felt like they ran a 1/4 size small. 7D's fit pretty snug. The one thing that really killed it for me was the arch in the skate. It seem'd like they were built for HIGH arches where as I'm somewhere right in the middle. Fit to the Vapors (X50's) were similar only the arch and length. IF they fit your feet then they are a solid skate.

My only gripes are the arch, they are NOT crazy light and they didn't seem as "formed" to my foot right off the bat as the Supreme One100's that I went with.

Is there really that much of a difference between the E-Pro holder and Lightspeeds? Even for a beer leaguer?

Depends on how you are with adjusting. It feels completely different when you're on the ice.

[Experience is from CCM U+07s to both X:40s and One95's(most current)]

Tried on the CL's today. My feet are most comfortable in Supreme's, though the old Tacks felt good too. Wide forefoot, low arch, narrow heel, small haglunds on both heels. High volume foot.

The skates were ok with the initial slip on-sizing was right on with Bauer, maybe a touch smaller. These were 8d

My LHS baked them for me and we laced them up and let them cool in. It has been a major problem getting me properly fitting skates, my LHS did this as a favor to me.

The skate was pretty comfortable. Heel lock was the best of any recent RBK or CCM skate I have tried in the last 4 years. Ankle pads were very comfortable, and volume was fine for my foot. Toe box was a little cramped, and I had minor pain on the outside of my foot just behind the ball. No lacebite to speak of in 25 minutes or so on my feet.

The arches were the deal breaker for me- they are high. There was much pain pressing up into my arches. Felt like someone had put half a golfball under my arch. I do not think going to E width would have alleviated this issue for me.

Beyond the arch problem, the skates were pretty comfortable....once baked! They definitely felt better than the Pro's or Reloaded's unbaked, but compared to unbaked Total One's or Vapors they are boxy and odd feeling. Your mileage may vary there depending on your foot shape. If your LHS will let you bake them for fit, I highly recommend that, it changes the comfort level dramatically. Please only ask them to do this IF YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUYER.

I ended up buying Total Ones (again, this time a half size smaller). I was coming from 8090's. I could have easily bought and skated in the CL's if the arches were lower.

I hope this helps anyone trying to get an idea of how these boots fit. Again YMMV, you must try them on for a proper idea of how they will work for you. Also, give your LHS a chance to give you the standard price from the big e-retailers, dont just use them for a fitting service- you might be surprised at the number they give you (in a good way). Rocket runners were in the box too!

Never saw a hockey shop agrees to bake some skates before you pay for them.. surprising. On the other hand if the true fit comes only after baking it's becoming hard for them to fit their customers.

I wondering what are they doing with the baked pair after that ???

I've had Lightspeed 2's, E-pro's in the past couple years. I really never noticed much difference. It's definately not worth spending the money to put Tuuks on. The E-Pro is a quality blade/holder combo. Maybe they have different rockers and you might need to get them profiled. BTW - I currently wear Graf Ulta G 5's with the Ultra 5000 holder. In other words, I'm not biased toward either:-).

Again, my circumstances were different than many. I had bought a few paris of skates over the last couple years, trying to get something that worked. I never returned a pair, instead selling them privately (for a loss). They went the extra mile for me, even if it meant them taking a loss, and thats why I try and build a good relationship with my LHS- when you need them they'll be there for you.

The place where I bought my last 2 pairs baked them before I had made up my mind on them.

Ive been using them since the day they came out. I really like them so far, I am coming from the U+ reloadeds and these are far more comfortable to me specifically in the fore-foot area where they a much more roomy fit then last years skate. They just have a "softer" internal padding feel all around. My favorite part of the skates is definately the new tongue which is just awesome. The tongue material is really soft but still thick and protective. I am not using the rocket runners that came with the skates but I may throw them on in the future. I have actually skated on RRs before since I had the original U+ Pros and I liked them, i just didnt happen to swap them on the CLs yet. The only downside that I can think of is that if you lace your skates all the way up to the top eyelet, these things are so stiff they would feel cast-like and be very difficult to flex forward in unless you weigh a lot (which is very true of most top end skates these days) which is why I lace them down an eyelet which totally takes care of that problem. The only thing that I wish they had that they don't is the lace lock feature from the older CCM lines and current RBK line which I loved and I do miss this on the CLs. I know a lot of people are complaining that these skates are not actually "crazy light" and I will agree that there are several lighter skates out there (TO, S17 specifically) but honestly the CLs are by no means heavy and I am sure they are even lighter if you throw the included Rocket Runners on. I highly recommend these skates to anyone who is looking for a good, stiff, comfortable pro level skate. If anyone has any specific questions about them just post and I will try to answer to the best of my ability.

Also I saw 11 eyelets instead of 10 on a size 8D skate, not sure if this is the case on smaller size models, but if that’s the case two things. Potential for being very stiff and lace bite problems if laced all the way up. Or the opposite effect, they give you a choice of skipping eyelets and you have less risk of losing lateral stiffness because of eyelet spacing. So I guess its two edge sword.

Honestly this skate feels like it was made to be laced down an eyelet (possibly due to the number of eyelets as you mentioned above). I have notice no wobble or lateral instability while lacing these down an eyelet, it seemed more like they perform like a normal fully laced skate flex-wise when laced down one eyelet. I cant even imagine how strong or heavy you would have to be in order to make this skate flex enough when laced all the way up (of course I am only 150 lbs so this is coming from a not very heavy person). One other reason why I like CCM skates in general is kind of a stupid one (especially given the love for TUUK holders in the hockey world) but to be honest I really like the stock blade profile of the EPro and also the fact that a 7D skate (my size) comes with a 271 length holder stock. Most other skate brands include a 263 in my size and I much prefer a longer blade (and actually after looking at several pro stock skates many pro players often go up a holder size as well). I also have a bit of a bone protrusion on the widest part of my fore-foot and ccm/rbk seems to accomodate this the best (although I have never worn the newer Bauer Supreme line of skates and i hear they have a fairly wide fore-foot as well).

Finally got a chance to handle the skate the other day. One thing I noticed right away is they are noticeably heavier than the previous model. The look and construction are awesome on this skate but I love how light my 08 U+'s are, even if the quarter package is crap. I've already replaced the tongues with 11K's, next up are some LS2 holders.

Yeah man, the 08 U+ Pros definately had their faults but they were really light and luckily the quarter package delamination was only cosmetic and the structure itself was still plenty strong.

Just picked these up and skated in them for the first time last night. I'm coming from Vector 10.0 SEs, so this is probably the stiffest skate I've ever owned. I baked them and they felt really good after baking them, in a game scenario I had some pain, but I kind of expected that and by the end they were starting to feel a little bit better.

I do agree the toe box is kind of crammed, I tried on 9s, but my foot just felt too loose, so I stuck with the 8.5 which is what my 10.0s were.
