dsjunior1388 81 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 I bought a short sleeve one a short while ago, and it defintely feels like the neck is taller than the mission shirt I used to use with the same idea. Not quite too big, but big enough that its more noticable than the bottom one, and at times it runs against the bottom edge of the back of my helmet.
tareatingrat 4 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 There's not much that would have prevented a freak accident like that. The placement of that cut makes me think a cage might have deflected the cut a bit, but he was still going to get hurt. It's the chance you take playing the game.I do, however, feel better wearing a cage and a neck guard. Even when I'm screwing around in pick-up games. Never know. Might as well do what I can.Not sure if I'd like a neck guard attached to my undershirt like the Bauer setup. I don't particularly like the bulky thing I have right now, but at least I can loosen it to where it's tolerable, but still protective.
skarbro 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 I can see it helping prevent blade cuts, but it doesn't look like it has any beef help prevent injuries from sticks and pucks.
RussianDangler15 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 ^^^^^^No neckgaurd is designed to take shots and slashes.
skarbro 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 No, but some are better than others. Shock Doctor has a neck guard with kevlar that has a bunch of nice padding.
chuffy 2 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 I still have my old DR neckguard that I wear. Think I got used to it during my time as a kid where you HAD to wear one. Think I'm the only guy in my beer leauge team who wears one lol
jimmy 194 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 No, but some are better than others. Shock Doctor has a neck guard with kevlar that has a bunch of nice padding.Shock Dr also has just a soft neckguard, like that on the bauer shirt, but without the shirt. The shirt is a nice product, we've sold quite a bunch, however, you'll likely have to buy 3 of them, unless you wash after every skate or like to wear a sweaty shirt back to back without washing. I think just a soft neckguard is more practical.
number21 3 Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Bauer makes a bib version of the shirt neck guard - or at least that's what it looks like.http://www.icewarehouse.com/descpage.html?PCODE=B22NG
RichardsIsTheMan 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2010 This is a great idea. I always hated neck guards as well when I was a kid, but I never minded wearing a high collar on the shirts I wore under equipment. Good move by Bauer.
RussianDangler15 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2010 ^^^^Actually it's a good move by Itech because they were the ones who developed it but since bauer now owns itech they label it as their's. I'm glad they did because I had wanted one but I felt the Itech shirt was less comfortable than the Bauer now I have the best of both worlds.
Krev 86 Report post Posted October 31, 2010 Do these shirts also have the non-slip elbows?
RussianDangler15 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2010 ^^^ Yes instead of the usual "vapor X" pattern they are gripped dots and so far they work just as well if not better.
Fire Walker 22 Report post Posted November 1, 2010 My son has one and loves it. His old neck guard was his biggest complaint before. No issues with this shirt.
NextBobbyOrr 0 Report post Posted December 5, 2010 I just bought one of the shirts. Staring at a 6k neck guard, saw they had some of the shirts off to the side. Definitely one of the best impulse purchases I've made. Super comfortable and it is a little high, but maybe it's just me cause I'm short lol.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted August 28, 2014 Bumping an old thread here, but I just bought one of these today. I'm playing in a League this Fall/Winter that not only mandates cages, but neck guards too. Ugh! Oh well...still better than the bulky ones they make little kids wear. But, if wearing it around the house is any indication, I'm going to be very uncomfortable this season. Could only find a long sleeve version. Hate long sleeves under my gear. Maybe cutting the sleeves short will help.

Buzz_LightBeer 973 Report post Posted August 29, 2014 I think Mission has short sleeve versions. Don't do up the zipper all the way, it's far less noticeable.
SpideyDiG 8 Report post Posted August 31, 2014 I was at my LHS store today and checking out the new Bauer NG 37.5 Premium Neck Protect Performance shirt I noticed the only place it said 37.5 was on the Kevlar neck guard. Compared to the Bauer NG 37.5 Premium Performance L/S Grip Shirt that has the 37.5 logo printed low on the right side. So I was thinking maybe the one with the Kevlar neck guard doesn't have the 37.5 material with the rest of the shirt. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this too? Can anyone confirm this?
