New Reebok SicKick III Line

Recommended Posts

On October 1st, Reebok Hockey is launching a new line of SicKick III sticks featuring the 11K. As the Stick Product Manager for Reebok Hockey, I'm here to answer any questions you may have about the line or simply get your feedback. As such, feel free to post your questions or comments and I'll try to answer as many as possible by Friday, October 8th.

As always, my objective isn't to promote Reebok sticks and I'm not here to discredit any competitors. Simply, I want to get your feedback to improve future products or keep you informed about the new stick line.

Thanks,

Ollie

Couple of questions; What are the new improvements from the 10k to the 11k? Also any plans on doing a sakic or toe curve for retail?

To me, the non-Spyne Dolomite is a pro-performance stick, and it is priced at a relatively reasonable $170 US. What in Reebok's line is comparable in performance and price?

Couple of questions; What are the new improvements from the 10k to the 11k? Also any plans on doing a sakic or toe curve for retail?

Thanks for your question.

The 11K has three main improvements over the 10K. First, the 11K has the new Dual Matrix Technology that increases the release speed by approximately 8%. Dual Matrix refers to the different carbon densities on the forehand and backhand. The different densities work off each other to create a spring loading effect at the bottom of the shaft. Second, the 11K has dimples on the surface of the blade. These dimples combined with stiffer carbon significantly reduce blade deformity for a crisp and accurate shot. Finally, the 11K has a feature called OptiBalance that optimizes the balance point of every stick. The 11K also has a more consistent wall thickness for improved durability.

The new Crosby P87A pattern is the same as the Sakic pattern offered by Easton.

Hope that answers your question.

Does the 11K have a low or mid kickpoint? Thanks in advance.

The 11K has a low kick point. If you're looking for a mid kick point, I recommend trying the 8.0.8.

Saw both the 11k grip and non-grip yesterday. The non-grip feels absolutely phenomenal. The finish is exactly like the Limited Edition blue/gray X60s... Simply wonderful.

I can recommend the new 9K stick that should be priced at around $170 US. The 9K offers most of the features of the 11K and is used in professional leagues all across the world.

Any plans to make the Hedman pattern more of an Iginla/P12 clone by changing the lie from a 5 to 5.5?

The Hedman pattern is almost identical to the Bauer Kane or the CCM Thornton. No plans to switch it right now. Thanks for your question.

Will the Crosby patterned sticks be a separate color from the other patterns like on the 10K? The 10K was a great looking stick in black/silver, was not a fan of the black/gold that was used for the Crosby curve.

Not this year. The Crosby P87A curve will come in the same color as the rest of the line-up (black/chrome).

Few questions, I'm deciding whether or not I should purchase the 11k or the Total One, with this year p87A curve, I was very excited for the 11k's release, as I use a P92 Bauer (Sakic clone).

So my questions are, what is the weight of the 11k? Compared to other top line sticks? (U+ Cl, X:60, Total One)

Also, What is it set to be priced at?

The 11K weighs on average 430g which makes it the second lightest stick in the market behind the CCM U+CL. Check your local hockey store for pricing but the 11K is in the same price range as other ultra premium sticks. Good luck with your decision. Let me know how it goes if you decide to purchase the 11K. I'm always interested in getting feedback on product performance.

What exactly are the sticks that Reebok will be releasing for the SicKick III line? Obviously, as you have mentioned, the 11K and the 9K... is there a new 7K, ect? Is there going to be a new 8.0.8. and 6.0.6. as well? What are the respective weights of these newly released sticks? Thanks for your time.

We're also releasing an 8K, 6K, 5K and 4K. The OTECH sticks are carrying over for a second year but we will offer a new pattern and color way on the 8.0.8. A white 8.0.8 with the new P42 Duchene pattern. Look for that product in April.

Just a quick pattern question, do you guys have a P02/Lidstrom clone? thanks

Not yet but we are seeing more demand for that pattern. Something we may consider for future launches. Thanks.

For clarification, the 8k, 6k, 5k, 4k are the same product as before, just a new holiday color pattern, correct?

What competitor stick is the new 7k targeted against? What is the major difference vs the old 7k?

thanks and great work on the 10k last year.

Thanks for answering questions Ollie...will Reebok be replacing an updated shaft / blade line? Will there be improvements over the current generation?

Is the only difference between the p36 and p36a pattern the lie? or will there be any difference in curve characteristics?

Is the p42 an exact replacement, including lie, of the p34?

PS. this is pretty great what you guys are doing, reaching out into the community.

PSS. what are Reebok's plans for replacement blades, standard and tapered?

Ollie, we appreciate you taking the time to answer all the questions. What is the length of the 11K intermediate stick? My son has outgrown his X60 P88 intermediate stick and wants to switch to an 11K 40P. All intermediate sticks are listed as 57 inches, however, the 10K intermediate stick is longer than Bauer. Does this still apply to the 11K? Thank you.

Ollie, thanks for coming back. My questions are:

1-other than the "shark grip" are there any plans to offer a tactile grip rather than a spray on type?

2-last time you were here you suggested that the 2010 6k was the best bang for the buck stick in the line as it was very similar to the previous 7k. What's the best value in the 2011 line?

All the sticks in the line are brand new (11K, 9K, 8K, 6K, 5K and 4K). You'll see some key differences in performance from the 2009 models. First, all our sticks are lighter and better balanced. Second, we've added Guided Blade Technology to every model except the 4K. This makes the blade stiffer and much more accurate. Finally, every stick comes with Dual Matrix Technology for a faster release.

Thanks for the feedback on the 10K. We don't have a new 7K in the line this year. However, the 8K is offered at the same price point. Versus the old 7k, it's lighter, has a better blade and a faster release.

Thanks for answering questions Ollie...will Reebok be replacing an updated shaft / blade line? Will there be improvements over the current generation?

Yes, we'll be offering the 11K and 6K in shaft/blade. The 11K is tapered while the 6K regular. Both models are upgrades from last year.

Thanks for the questions. The new P36A Phaneuf is a true heel curve. Equivalents in the market include the Easton Drury (Parise) and Bauer Staal. The P42 Duchene is like an Easton Zetterberg or a Bauer Malkin. Here's the breakdown of the new Reebok curves with market equivalents:

P87A Crosby (Sakic, Backstrom and Lecavalier)

P42 Duchene (Zetterberg and Malkin)

P40 Hedman (Kane, Thornton)

P38 Datsyuk (no change)

P36A Phaneuf (Drury, Staal)

Hope that clears things up.

Our 11K intermediate is 57 inches long. Hope your son has a good experience with the new 11K. Let me know how it works out.

Two good questions. For now, we consolidated all our grips to GRIPTONITE to simplify our offering. No plans to offer a "tactile grip" in the near future but it's something we can consider.

The best bang for your buck depends on your level of play. For mid price points, the new 6K is an outstanding value. In focus groups, many kids thought the 6K was our new high end stick. I recommend that you go to your local store to check it out. Let me know what you think.

Is there a place we can see the sticks now?

The entire line is being released today. I recommend that you call your LHS to see if they're offering every model. You can also can more information on the 11K at www.reebokhockey.com.
