The 2010-2011 Suspension Thread

Recommended Posts

No matter if Subban felt it or not, it was still a stupid selfish penalty to take. Agitators are just as much a part of the game as the big name snipers. The players that lose their cool on PK Subban are playing right into his game. Love him or hate him, he is very effective at getting in peoples heads. So in summary, did he dive? Does it really matter? He got fairly high skilled player kicked out of the game so PK ended up playing his role very well.

With all that being said, the refs should have given both of them 2 for roughing long before the infamous two hand chop

I can't believe that Hornqvist elbow on Seguin didn't get a game or 2. No reason for him to lead with the elbow, on top of it targeting the head. If was going in to make a hit on Seguin he should be leading with his shoulder and then you could have made the argument that this was a "hockey play". Just like Marchand's elbow on Umberger, that's not playing the body the right way.

http://www.nesn.com/2011/03/report-no-suspension-for-patric-hornqvists-hit-on-tyler-seguin.html

the article on NESN, look at some of the blatant homerism saying that since Seguin got 7 stitches and Umberger had no injury, Hornqvist should get a long suspension and Marchand should get nothing. I'm a bruins fan but that is just ridiculous.

About time somebody retaliated to Subban's antics. One of the dirtiest players in the league.

I would have given Lecavalier a medal. I just can't respect a player like Subban, and my favorite team has boasted the likes of Ben Eager, Dan Carcillo, and Jesse Boulerice.

EXCELLENT opportunity for the NHL to make an example out of the Cooke hit on McDonagh...Hit to the head, blindside hit, repeat offender, should be at least 10 games imo.

Which is why he'll get 5 or less. Another opportunity will be missed by the NHL!

Boy Cooke is an idiot sometimes. I really wish he'd figure it out because he is a really effective hockey player in many different ways when he wants to be. No defending this one.

Kinda crazy, but I think Matt Cooke should be suspended the rest of the season. Easily the greasiest player in the NHL. Also as far as Lecavalier/Subban go I agree with Vinnys punishment, but the league, players union, tsn etc, someone needs to call out PK. He was cleary slashed on the pants and was holding his hand/arm and face.

Crazy? Not even close. Absolutely justifiable. ANYONE who stands up for this a-hole again should never be allowed to give an opinion again.

Video here:

TIME AFTER TIME this guy deliberately tries to hurt people. And like we've said a million times before, until someone does something, whether it be the NHL suspending him for what he rightfully deserves, in this case, I think regular season AND the playoffs (hell, suspend him 20 into next season too if they get knocked out first round), or decapitates him, he'll continue to do it, and be proud of it.

Id like to go even a step further with Cooke and suspend him indeffinately. Then maybe when next years preseason concludes , they could give him another hearing , and suspend the piece of sh.... from there

Immediately when i saw the hit during the third i thought of what the Modsquad guys would say haha. I completely agree with everyone here. He should definitely be suspended and should be given a significant number of games. This type of hit is unacceptable. He clearly targets the head, and as the commentator said "tries to sperate the helmet from the head of Mcdonagh."

I really hope the NHL doesn't make another mistake with this guy, he's gotten away with way too much.

My guess is three, though I think they could justify 10 with his previous issues. Pens should be fined for putting an A on his jersesy.

I have the feeling that the league will come down on Cooke not only to teach him a lesson but to give a little shot back at Lemieux.. Then again, who knows. He certainly deserves to sit for the rest of the season and why not suspend him for 2 or 3 games in the playoffs also.

You have to wonder the real thoughts and motivations of those involved in making these decisions, because with all the very recent lip-service, Cooke shouldn't play another game until the Penguins' next season begins.

To the end of the season would be a good start. I wish Lemuiex would have the stones to give a interview.

Given Mario's comments, I'm sure we can count on the team adding on a few games to the suspension handed out by the NHL, right?

That would be sick, would love to see it happen. Teams should start sending a message to the players.

I thought about that early if the team could actually do that. What grounds could they suspend him under and not have the PA on them in a heartbeat

One can only hope.

Conduct detrimental to the team? Who knows.

I can't imagine Mario doing that.

If the team doesn't do anything they look like there even bigger hypocrites.

Bigger than the lightning complaining about flashy shootout moves when they are the ones mostly doing them.
