Crosby may skip All Star Game

Recommended Posts

" "It's part of the game. It's unfortunate, and you don't like to see it, but it's part of the game."

Sidney Crosby, in response to questions about Cooke's hit on Savard.

Funny, when it's his team mate throwing (another) cheapshot, it's just part of the game. When it's him, he's angry at the league. "

Now reports are surfacing that Crosby and his agent have never discussed the ASG and that he might miss only if he is still not 100%. Of course these reports are coming from Dave Shoalts' (the Globe and Mail reporter who first reported the story) competitors.

I'm glad someone remembered that.

If he isn't healthy, he should skip the game and it seems pretty obvious that he isn't healthy yet.

This is the part about cheap shots in the league that I take issue with. If star teammates of the players who threw cheap shots would call them out instead of defending their teammate then they would stop right quick.

Alright I am thinking that Crosby might be sitting out of the all star game because he is trying to prove a point about the severity of concussions, especially up in canada where in the major rinks they won't even let you play without a CSA certified helmet. Whats everyones opinion on this matter?

Legit excuse. He isn't even practicing or symptom free yet.

there was a canadian report that said crosby was debating skipping the all star game to prove a point - but later in the day crosby was interviewed and said flat out that he would be there if he is healthy. i think the nhl got the point just with people talking about it - i dont think he would have actually needed to skip the game. but i think he legitimately still has symptoms and isn't going to risk anything till they are gone.

He's hurt, that's why he's not playing.

This story was debunked last week, there's another thread here somewhere. Seems like someone who doesn't like Crosby tried to float this rumor.

He has never been my favorite player but there is no reason to accuse him of blowing off the game to make a point. People spend way too much time coming up with conspiracy theories and way too little time applying Occam's Razor.

+1. Do people really think he would miss nearly 10+ games because he doesn't want to play in the all star game, or because he wants to prove a point?

He's got a concussion. He's handling it the proper way. There is nothing more to it than that.

Don't need to shave it that close, just take the guy at his word. I don't recall him being shown to be a liar.

No, but he has been shown to be a large whiner. However, he has a concussion and is dealing with it.

He really isn't one of my favorite players either but the only reason why I started up this topic is because right now I am living and play puck up in Nova Scotia with that being said Crosby is considered the Hockey God to most of the people in this region and I hear all these rumors, obviously a concussion is a big deal, but it seems quite fitting with the campaign up here(Nova Scotia/Canada) against concussions but as you said thats probably just a locker room rumor and quite simply he is hurt and not feeling 100%

IMO, its legit. Im one of the last people who would defend Sid, but I dont see any reason to perpetuate a conspiracy theory.

He isnt playing or even practicing yet and IMO if he really wanted to make a statement like that, he would hold a press conference or give an interview and plainly state that he is boycotting the ASG because the league isnt doing enough about blindside hits and contact to the head.
