wrangler 157 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 This one might be good if your Canadian. http://www.thehockeyshop.com/player/skates/accessories/nash-plastic-ankle-and-foot-guard.htmlI believe those are Skate Fenders, which the manufacturer ships within Canada. Total Hockey has them in the U.S., maybe others do, too.
Coldaccord 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2011 camhockey16:http://www.skatefenders.ca/_public/Home.phpthanks, that was just what I'm looking for.dolomatic: high and low are different stories. I've worn a halfer my whole time playing out and wore a cage for the first time tonight: it's great! I've always been a goalie, and it wasn't until I started playing out that I've been getting my face stitched up. When I play with good players they're cognizant of keeping the stick down, but there are a lot of people less responsible.however in the past I just put my lower stick hand over my mouth in the slot and it's held me down.everyone chirps goalies, but in terms of protection they win. My only real goal injuries were groin pulls. playing out I've cracked a rib, broken my foot twice, stitches in the face, teeth about to come out, etc. all in 3 years, while I played net from 7-current (25). jds 20 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 Best $80 I have ever spent. Several shots off the foot and ankle with no problem.http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/53926-skate-fenders/
retroXvertigo 4 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 I ordered some skate fenders after having a toe broken in two places from a shot. Took a slapper off the fender that nearly knocked my skate out from under me. Didn't feel a thing.
Too Old 1 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 They work very well. I bought a set of the Lexan skate fenders last year after breaking my left fibula just above the ankle and having surgery to install a plate/4 screws. I figure anything that will help protect against a foot/ankle injury is beneficial. Especially since they weigh nearly nothing and don't hinder skating a bit. Cheap insurance is what they are. Plus, I'm not so leery to stand in and block a shot when back on D or if trying to tip one in at the net on the other end.

Coldaccord 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 Going to order those skate fenders (clear plastic ones). Thanks guys.Question though: I wear an 8 skate (sz 10 shoe) and that seems to be the break in sizing:medium is 5-8 large is 8-14should I go medium or large? skates are bauer one90s if it matters
frankie56 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 Had same question for company. Told its best to try it on boot as all boots different. Both will work but small will be tighter fit but less obtrusive, and large will be loose and cover more area.

Thinkingjack 51 Report post Posted April 6, 2011 http://www.shotblockers.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=content&menuid=4&pageid=1005Might be the closest you're going to find.that actually is it but modified, just has felt attached to it to help with the blow and its sewn to the shins instead of inserted into the skate
chandler 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2011 I just dont see the use in them. It must add weight to the skates. Has anyone tried them before? I know that Total Hockey carries them.

spyjunior 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2011 I've had the Skate Fenders for about 2 months, and they're great! I've taken plenty of shots off my feet, and no stingers. Well, not completely true. They're just like any other piece of protective equipment, if there's a gap anywhere, the puck is going to find it, right?!! But any shot I've taken off the guard has been a pleasant surprise. I play D, and wear an 11.5 skate, so they're pretty big targets! No noticeable weight, and I can walk after every skate = must buy.
hockeyD 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2011 I just bought Spats Skate Armour ($50 http://www.spats.ca/). Very very light, I didn't even notice I was wearing them. Easy to use, just fed laces through, and once on, you just tie up as per usual and then flip the protection over the laces when finished tying skates. I ordered the black colored spats so others don't see I'm wearing them they just blend in with skates. I had a bad injury, when hit with slapshot this spring had to miss about a month and a half before i could get my foot back in boot.
lurkndestroy 1 Report post Posted September 29, 2011 bought a set of the fenders a while ago. best decision i've made in a while....complain about the weight all you want but remember that walking with crutches is not a good look.
