CROSBY TO RETIRE?

Recommended Posts

Got this e-mail bulletin. WTF?

Sportsnet Radio THE FAN 590's Bob McCown has learned that Pittsburgh Penguins' star forward Sidney Crosby's family may be trying to convince him to quit the game. His agent, Pat Brisson, responded by saying, "Sidney's parents have been extremely encouraging and supportive during this recovery period." Crosby hasn't played since receiving a concussion on January 5th against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tune in to Prime Time Sports for more on this story.

Its a common trick for low level media. "Is an alligator living in your septic tank? The answer might surprise you. Stay tuned to find out. *Commercials* No. An alligator is not living in your septic tank."

But you COULD have been surprised.

As a member of the media I am disgusted I fell for this....though our assistant sports editor was running around saying "there's a report Crosby may retire, there's a report Crosby may retire!" .

I fall on my sword.

Also, Colin Campbell was relieved of his position, the coyotes 100% confirmed moving to Canada, and the capitals and sharks will face each other in the stanley cup finals this year, and both teams will win.

Please tell him that he shouldn't be sending money to Nigerian Princes or cashing money orders from people he doesn't know in Russia.

Okay, so I scramble to my laptop to make sure my MSH buddies are the latest to get the news and I look like a tool. Perfect. Did hear that Bobby Orr is being dealt to Chicago. Keeping that one under my hat.

Typical media, better to be first than right.

I wouldn't consider the FAN590 to be 'low-level', they are rather high up and McGowan is rather highly regarded.

Its all over the hockey-sphere but in case anyone missed it Crosby skated for about 15 minutes today in full gear and said he's been feeling better over the last few days.

“I feel good. It’s really early. It’s just part of progress and trying to get better,” Crosby told www.PittsburghPenguins.com in an exclusive interview. “I felt pretty good doing some light workouts. I was told I had the opportunity to skate. I went out there for 15 minutes to see how I felt. No real plan going forward. I felt good, so that’s a good sign.”

I'm surprised no one on here's commented on him wearing the "old" practice jersey. What are we, actually not paying attention to gear??

His hands are just ridiculous. I always tend to forget how disgustingly talented NHL players are until I see videos like that.

even the "crappy" players are way better than most of us can even dream about. when Jeff Odgers was a Thrasher he would play in the AAA division of the local beer league in the summer. even though he wasn't playing like a show-off he was still dominant and we're not talking guys who learned as adults. the AAA league is almost exclusively guys who played some form of juniors, college or minors.
