Easton Stealth RS Stick

Recommended Posts

Used mine last night. 1G, 1A. The puck absolutely flys off the blade, with very minimal effort. I think I'll need to get used to its light weight again. I over stickhandled when I shouldn't have, missed some airborne pucks. Both of those scenarios would've resulted in an easy two or three more goals.

The RS is one hell of a stick. Count me as a believer.

Another point I want to add is with how this stick loads and releases so easily in close play in the slot or in the bottom half of the circles I was getting incredible shots off for an 85 flex stick. Typically when I play forward I like a stiffer stick for this reason no-windup one timers and shots taken real close to the body I get on top of sticks to much and flub some shots here and there. With the RS last night it seemed so easy.

I want to get a few more skates in with it, but I think its a winner.

Played three games with it. Love the new dimensions of the shaft, the kick was better than i remember from WF. Got 2G and 4A in the games, and from someone as defensive as me it's really impressive.

One of my teammates noticed that i was blocking a lot of shots and stuff with one hand. I think because the stick is so light i can maneuver it better and faster. I did poke-check like a fiend (if i say so myself).

Slap shots are gonna take some getting used to i think.

The graphics just add to the amazingness of the stick. I want to start a yellow and black team now.

I was noticing that too. The stick just launches the puck in tight, without really putting a lot of weight into the shot. Just a quick snap and it's off.

ill give the stick snap shots. Wristers were ok too but no better then my total one. Slappers are definetly slower with the low kick. But I expected that. I was just more concerned with the 100 flex that played like a 85-90. Im looking forward to a 110 version. another couple games maybe I will start to get the feel for it more.

I love the shaft dims though. It feels perfect in your hands.

Probably missed this in the discussion, but why doesn't this stick come in 75 flex again?

Initial launch is 85 and 100 flex only.

played with an apx tonight and in comparisn to the stealth the apx feels like a better stick. I like the stealth but there just isnt the same velocity on my shots as with the apx. The apx pops alot harder on all shots with the dual flex points. the low kick on the stealth really lags the shot velocity. Just my thoughts. gonna try the AI9 too when it comes out. I like all these new stick choices!

you can tell the vapour has dual kick points. i cant believe the shot velocity on all shots with it im pretty impressed. The shaft dims are different with the round corners which feels alot different then the RS but overall i think its a better stick performance wise. also the vapour plays like 102 flex where i found the RS felt like a 90-95 for a 100 flex. Im also surprised that the apx has so many options I was at the store and they have so many blades and flexes for a stick launch where the RS is really limited. I really would like a 110 in the RS. it would probably help with the lagging shot feeling. But I will give the RS quik release. Just velocity is meh. It could be my playing style aswell, im sure some will disagree. Im 210 pounds, and use alot of weight into shots. my sticks needs to be pretty stiff. Im also 5'7 so I cut them done a bit.

Overall so far i take the apx. Im looking forward to the AI9 now aswell.

Got a chance to really take a good look at the RS and the APX while at work today; since its Thanksgiving, it was a slow day

WOW. What they say about the RS is definitely true. This stick kicks and releases like no other; absolutely AMAZING. It does indeed play a bit softer than rated. I normally use 75/77 flexes but I could get a really effective shot with the 85. Once the 75 flex comes out; I will seriously consider picking this one up. The shaft dimensions and the overall feel of the stick is just... 'right', it's extremely balanced and sits well in my hands.

Comparing this to the APX; while some might go for that for the dual core blade and puck feel, it simply is a step below the RS in terms of shot release and velocity.

Easton has really upped their game this year. Quite impressed.

Figured I would post here instead of making a new topic:

I just had the opportunity to buy a $250 PureHockey giftcard from a friend for $125. I'm gonna use it as an excuse to buy myself a top of the line stick, but I'm torn between the Widow and the RS. I don't have much of a slapper, but I'd like to think my wrist and snap shots are both very good. I know the Drury (Parise now?) and Kovalev are clones, so there's no difference there. I've also used Warrior for about a year and a half, but I've heard nothing but amazing things about the RS.

For anyone who has used both, was there one you preferred?

Thanks!

Xuno, go for the RS. With all of the input I've heard, the RS is almost purely very positive. The Widow is hit or miss with some (as with all sticks in general), but not many people I've heard from have had a single bad thing to say about the RS.

I've used both thanks to MSH events, and put my vote on the RS. It's difficult to put into words the preference because it is exactly that, a preference. I prefer the feel of shooting with the RS myself.

I prefer the widow by far. What sticks do you use now and what do you like or not like about them? That will make the biggest difference in which you will like.

RS. Can't go wrong with it, IMO. I used a teammates Widow last night for a few shifts and didn't like the way it loaded. The RS requires little effort to get the shot off. Love it.

That's exactly my point. The type of stick you like will determine which of the two you will prefer.

I use an old Dolomite right now, I had a MacDaddy that I loved but that broke. I definitely liked the feel of the MacDaddy more.

I smashed my X:40 in a fit of rage two nights ago (yes I got dangled and they scored), so I decided it was time for a new stick. I've done alot of reading on the RS and decided to bite the bullet and picked it up at a local retailer (110 flex, Hall). My thoughts:

- the weight (or lack thereof) is pretty amazing, I'm used to heavier sticks to this was a pleasant surprise

- it's very pingy, whether it's with passes, slapshots, or snapshots, but I could still absorb hard passes very well

- even for a 100 flex, it still seems very whippy (not necessarily a bad thing)

- I found because the stick was lighter I could defend better with one hand (I think someone else mentioned this in this thread as well)

- the feel for the puck was still really good

- I usually have terrible one timers but was hitting some bombs last night

Overall, I'm ecstatic over this new stick and feel that it was worth every penny.

I've noticed this as well. Though I'm not very qualified to evaluate much good or bad about a stick, I've been playing with one we got at our shop and noticed it felt much more pingy or composite feeling than the TO shaft and One95 blade I had been playing with. However, while it felt and sounded like that, its also been great for receiving passes and hasnt really played pingy.

Not sure if I'm making sense, but its the best I can explain it.

That's exactly how I would've described it. I think the lightness of the stick is also a (positively) contributing factor. In a game last night, there were a few times that I fumbled a pass (as expected because I'm not the greatest player) but I was able to recover almost instantly and regain control of the puck. If I had been using one of my old sticks, I know that wouldn't have happened.
