CCM U+ Crazy Lights

Recommended Posts

Other than the recent thread on the CL puncture, I really couldn't find any information on here regarding these skates. I'm wondering if you guys could help me out. Basically I've always been a Bauer guy, but I found out that I'm able to fit into a CCM and RBK junior skate so I'm considering making the switch. Other than the biased skate information online, I really can't find any reviews on these guys. Thoughts?

Basically ccm revamped the u+ pro skates and made a better out of the box feel, are very stiff, and made a brand new U foam tongue. Although they are a little bitt heavier then previous models, they by far the best skates ccm has produced in a while.

I thought the current U+ line already had more depth than most skates

I have a high instep and need a deep boot

i don't know if you came across this thread, but at 22 pages I imagine its covered everything imaginable on the skate

http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/53146-ccm-u-cl-skate/

it does have more volume than the average bauer.

I have to disagree.

I fit my x:60's and do not fit the new U+Cl. Across the top of the foot busts out of the seems in the CL's.

i stand corrected.

I was just thinking about this though. I did not bake the cl's. But even unbaked I had more room in my 60's than I do in the cl's. I wanted the CL to fit!

I have U12's and IMO they offer a little more depth that my previous X30s. I failed the pencil test in my 30's and have a noticeable bulge out of the skates. In my CCMs they fit perfect and are a half size smaller. Every foot is shaped different and effects the fit in different ways. If you need more info, there are some reviews in the skate review section that can answer many questions.

There are also two kinds of depth, ankle and foot. The ankles on the CL were fine for me, the forefoot depth was not.

I failed the ankle area in the CL's. or right around the 3 4 and 5 eyelet from top.

The CL NEEDS to be heat molded, the whole fit totally changes after this is done correctly, and if your shop has the FIT machine, that's even better.

Whats the FIT machine? Is that the same as the CCM vacume that was used after heat molding to wrap the boot around your foot.

That’s what I thought it was. Those FIT machines are amazing! I wish more skate shops carried them. I hear complaints about the machine breaking and difficulty to find replacement parts.

On topic of the skates a friend of mine owned them for 4 months before they folded and he creased them. Other than that though he loved the skates. As for the fit machines, I think they would work better with today's super pliable skates (one95, U+, and now totalone, 11k, CL's, &eq50) then with older skates. But the Vacu-tac (think thats what its called) would be better still IMHO.

I was looking at these skates in the store. I noticed that there were no pre-defined ankle bone concave spots in the padding inside the boot. When heat molding these, does the padding do a good job of squishing down to leave nice concave spots for your ankle bones?

Yes, the padding and u foam molds around your ankle bones very well to make nice 'pockets'. In my case, I also had to have the inside ankle bone area punched out because my maleolar bones stick out a LOT.

Yeah. That is one of my problems too. My inside ankle bones not only stick out a lot, but they are really far forward. The padding in these is thick all the way forward to the eyelets, which is really great for my forward bones. I think I'll give these skates a try next. Thanks!

I just bought a pair of these skates and my last pair have been reebok 11k. I have used the skates for 3 games and love them, there was no worry of a break in period as the heat molding process was spot on. The boots are stiff and react very well, coming from a softer boot i find my skating is stronger and i am using less effort it seems. I wanted to get the Bauer one100's but they just did not fit and i would need a 9.25 and they do not stock them retail. It is amazing the fit on these skates, i had to re bake the skates after the first skate as i had a tad bit of heel lift so in went the superfeet and a re heat and it is now like wearing the perfect slippers. I do not have any lace bite or any other foot issues. I would seriously give this canadian made skate a chance if you are looking at them
