What do numbers on CCM Tacks skates refer to?

Recommended Posts

Did a search and found nothing.......Can anyone tell me what the numbers refer to, on CCM Tacks skates? 652, 1052? Also does anyone have any info on CCM 600 Tacks skates?

Thanks all, for any info!

Cheers!

SMU's= Special Make Up.

The only pic I could find of CCM600's looked like one of the first versions on the U+ skate, and looked to be a lower end cheaper model. Like stated above they could have been ordered by a big retailer or offered to them and sold as an SMU model. They make these SMU's an offer them as kinda like a limited edition etc.

All the products ending in "52" were a part of the Tacks line.

Thanks mickz, but that doesnt explain my 600 Tacks? Maybe like the boys said, in previous reply's.....The Tacks 600 were some sort of "Special Edition" for a certain store? Thanks for info though!

By the way...these are the skates I am refering to...

Do they fit your feet?

I've gotten both the 652 and 992 before, and they didnt fit me well as I've got a higher arch and instep.

Tacks fit my feet amazingly well.

FWIW, I bought a really nice pair of 1052's cheap from play it again, then I bought a pair of 652's off of ebay for 21$.

There are good deals out there, you just have to be lucky, patient, or both.

BTW, the 652's are the most comfortable skate I have ever put my foot in..holy crap! Even better fit and feel for me than the 1052's (which I love).

Been hunting for a pair of 652s in size 8 for a lifetime :(

I have a pair of sz 7.5 1052s that I bought new and put Pro-lites on (preferred them over the E-Pros at the time) and used for a few games before stepping away from hockey for a few years due to work and returning to school. Consequently, they've been sitting in my bag for years and are more or less new (used for maybe 5 beer league games)with only some scuffs here and there.

Where I live now there's no ice rink, but one's finally being built and should be open this August so now I'm wondering if I should dust them off and finally put them to use or get some new Reeboks or CCMs. I've only ever skated on ice with tacks (552s, 752s, 952s, and 1052) and my little jaunts into original Vapors and even the CCM E60 (externos?) never felt good.

Being the gear-ho I am, I'm guessing some new skates are in my future. I got some 6k inlines I like but wonder how CCM ice ones feel nowadays. Still, I miss the old Tacks line and really wish CCM had kept the line. These new names really don't resonate with me at all.

My opinion....stay with the 1052's if they still fit you well. In my zeal to find the "perfect" skate, I bought a new pair of Vapor x50's. They fit alright and they are nice skates, but they are in no way as comfortable as the 652 tacks I just bought off of ebay. It's a little sad to leave a pair of $300 skates sitting at home and grab the tacks when its time to head to the rink, but thats the way it is, lol.

Even though I know it's been discussed to death, I just dont get why, with so many different models of skates being made, they cant supply a skate with the fit, feel, and protection that the tacks line has...

I had a pair of 752 Kevlars that where an absolute incredible fitting skate. They where also very stiff and almost indestructable. Gave them up to upgrade to a pair of 1052's. The 1052's where also a nice skate but not near as good a fit. I'm still kicking myself for that move years later.

I have pair size 7.5 (need to double check) if you're interested. Absolutely love those skates...very comfortable and very strong.
