Elbow Pads: Ones that lock

Recommended Posts

Take any elbow pad that fits you, replace the elastic straps with nylon straps that don't stretch.

Other things you could try include using clear tape around pads for a tighter fit, wearing a form fitting shirt with grips areas around the elbows, or attaching rubber inserts inside the pad for more grip

I only have experience with RBK's and Bauer's, but I found the bauer's worked well since they have the sticky grip on the inside which helps lock them in place. Used in conjunction with a performance long sleeve shirt with grip on the elbows you should get a good lock and not too much slippage. I found that the elastic on any elbow pads I've used loosens over time. I recently got some Bauer pro stock elbows and they seem to lock in place alot better than the regular ones.

Reebok 8K works fine for me, on bare arms. I think the middle strap is a big reason it doesn't slip, but the fact that my forearm is a fair bit thicker than my elbow probably makes that work well for me.

I personally find the high end CCM elbows (U+ fit09 and U+ pro) stay in place really well, especially when used with a grip print shirt. They've got a pretty unique strapping system, they've got some built in grippy material, and they're a 3 piece design so they move well with your arm. Fit a touch small though.

I find that if you are wearing a long-sleeve shirt just rolling the sleeves back up over the bottom of the pad keeps them nicely in place.

i use a shirt with grip. I dont use the middle strap because it gouges. I haveCCM u+ fit shoulder and really like the feel. I should take a look at the Elbows.

Just bought a pair of Bauer Pro Series...anchor strap on these new elbows works very well. The Total One elbows seemed pretty nice as well but I like the bicep protection on the Pro Series better than the Total One.

Took your advice Btell and ordered a pair of the pro. I like how the biceps isnt part of the pad that holds the pad in place.

I had a problem with elbow pads not fitting well. I really solved it wearing a Pro Slash Guard (wrist protection). I've bought these Eastons.

I put them a bit underneath the elbow pads from one end, so that they hold it.

Now I can't even imaging wearing elbow pads without wrist guards. And they also give you the protection.

Are they shorter than the total Ones?

I didn't measure them but I would say they are pretty close to one another.

Squat good luck with the elbow pads. I wear a short sleeve shirt under my pads and they did not slide down at all and didn't interfere with my gloves...so far so good.

I just picked up a pair of Easton S13, they have a lock strap combined with a x-strap, two piece construction, plastic inserts. Dont move at all, I actually have to loosen them a little bit because they are so tight on my forearm, Senior Lrg.

Correct me if I'm wrong I think most of the elbow pads that came out this year had the strap that locked you in. I think it would be easier to list the ones that don't have it...

I just bought the Bauer Pros this weekend. Lost my edge a few weeks ago, went down hard and need more protection. I tried on every brand available, 2 different stores and the Pros fit me the best without feeling robotic. I have my eyes on the Reebok with the zig tech but they were too bulky. The Pro series feel like they won't take much time to break in.

The Bauer Pros aren't much longer than the Total Ones. The Total Ones feel a little lighter than the Pros, but conversely the Pros feel a bit more protective.

The yellow part on the outside of the bicep just didnt fit right. It seemed flimsy yet wouldn't wrap around my arm right whereas the Pro model felt molded already.

Yep, that's why I returned the Total Ones.
