Most "square" tapered shaft?

Recommended Posts

Looking to try something out and am wondering if anyone knows what the most square-handled tapered shaft would be? Looking for something common and current in case I get addicted and need more... Also must be available in 100 or higher flexes.

Oh, forgot to mention I would like grip as well... If it comes down to it though - the TO Tapered would be my choice if I can't find anything ideal with grip.

I thought the TO tapered shafts are more rounded like the ONE95 tapered shafts.

Nope, way different, I have both and the One95 tapered shaft was nothing like the OPS while the TO tapered shaft is the same as its OPS counterpart.

MOst square shaft I have seen with intense grip is the reebok 11k shaft. Plays like a really stiff 100 as well. What are you trying out?

Agreed. Might be a good choice. To me, the shaft played a lot stiffer than it was rated. I didn't cut it much.

Cool - might go with that. I saw it was listed as "traditional" and most say that it plays stiff. Glad I got someone to back-up those thoughts!

I am trying some custom blades. Starting off slow this time (one shaft, 3 blades!!). Still in the process of getting things ironed out. Hopefully Christian wood blades work. If not, then on to Sherwood custom composites.

I can also vouch for the 11k shaft playing stiff. I've been playing an 85 in pretty much all of the other brands and with the 11K I had to drop down to a 75.

I really didn't notice anything like that with the 7k or the 8k shafts (but I didn't use them extensively). The 11k felt like it was a good 10 points stiffer than it was rated.

Base hockey, i thought mine was gonna be more rounded corners "dolomite like" from the reviews of the OPS but my came in very boxy. Kinda Easton S17/ST style. So if you order you might wanna ask I'm sure they'll make what you specified.

Weird, my Base OPS has rounded corners and generally small shaft dimensions, feels smaller in my hands than any other senior I've used. Maybe they've been making changes to the shaft shape over time, though.

ya i was totally expecting it to be a more rounded shaft as my fav is the warrior "dragon" dolomites. But i got used to it after a while. So if you order another make sure to inquire.

Battleaxe shaft is pretty solid and fairly boxy.

never heard of that brand before, sounds interesting, although I forgot to mention that I'm in Canada, where we don't have as much suppliers. (us gets all canadian brands, but canada doesn't get all us brands... and that's the case with miken, battleaxe, and so many more...)

I'd recommend the Eq50 shaft, thickest feeling one that I know of.

For a boxy shaft, I'd look into the previously mentioned Total One tapered shaft from Pure Hockey. Also, Reebok shafts are pretty squared as well. The EQ50 shaft is also fairly boxy.

Surprised it took that long to mention the Easton SE16/EQ50 shaft. Quite boxy.

And my Reebok sticks have all felt about 10-15 flex stiffer than advertised.

I had both the 11k and eq50 and to me the eq50 may have been a little bigger in the hands, but the 11k was boxier. It's corners are so sharp it almost hurts the top hand.

The problem with the eq50 is it comes in at 54 inches for a 100 flex. Then you realize you have to cut off 2-3 inches to get it to 100 flex. The OP uses 110-120 flex sticks at a really long stick length. SO The EQ is not even an option.
