The fans were idiots but the players made it worst ... much worst. Thats the point.

If the guy in the stands did not throw the beer and Artest attacked him I hope he clears out that punks bank accounts.

Its amazing that these "pros" just never grew up.

You can say that now, over the internet, sure. But you can never imagine what it would be like with thousands of people screaming in your face and then some idiot throw beer and shit at you. I do not disagree in any way that he's immature, but I think anyone of us would have reacted the same way. And that guy had no reason to be approching Artest.

I cant say for sure what I would do but I know I would not run up into the stands ... period.

If some threw a chair at me or the like ... sure. A plastic cup of beer when I am taunting? Hell I gotta expect it then.

Interesting thread. I just want to see someone, hell anyone, be accountable these days.

But the players seemed to instigate most of the actions.

Maybe you should take a gander at the clips, or if you have already pay attention. Not much was going on the court except yapping till the fans started spazzing out and tossing stuff. How is that being instigated by the players?

It was contained until Artest and Jackson ran up into the stands looking for anyone to take on. You can trace back to their actions as being the event that lost all resemblence of control.

Theo-

I'm not saying either side is right but you're putting most of the blame on the players by saying they instigated it. Did they make the situation worse by going into the stands? Absolutely, but they didn't start it. Fans instigating fights with players is nothing new and the only reason we don't see more of it from hockey is because of the glass. You nonchalantly think that if they had access to the crowd, anyone else wouldn't have stormed in? Bullshit.

I'm surprise this wasn't worse. I figured once it got out of hand it would've snowballed much worse. I was thinking weapons at least, and if worse came to worse theirs what... 20,000 fans vs. 500 players, personell, staff and security?

If you look at the reply carefully, O'neil never connected well. First punch was blocked by the mans forearm (He didn't connect to the face at all)...Second one skimmed the guy's cheek and then the guy fell as everyone was moving in.

Ponty is right. The players disgraced themselves, and made things escalate 10 fold. As atheletes and role models, thats not right.

At the same time, once things got to that point, I would be very afraid as a player with fans all over the place. But the players seemed to instigate most of the actions.

I think you're looking at Artest, O'neil only threw one punch in that video and for sure connected. It was after Artest threw 2 punches that got blocked and the crowd fell together.

They're going to have to inevitably make it farther from the stands to the court and/or add something between the two.

At least this dragged out that footage of Milbury clowning some guy with his own shoe. Never saw that before and that was hilarious. That's what you get when you don't give me only the brown M&Ms.

I saw that on Sportscenter this morning, and I must say it was absolutely insane. I can't beleive that the players would even fathom doing that. Oh well, one more reason to only watch college hoops...

I disagree if there was not glass in the NHL fans would get into it. If more PRO SPORTS let players fight like they do in theNHL for one reason NHL officails let the two players duke it out. Once those 2 are done its over no one else gets involved.Mabey they let more fights go on but when its done its dont they go to the penalty box to cool off.

I thought that this was a pretty sweet fight...but I can't believe that around a 5'9" fat fan, would try and take on a 6'11" basketball player..who weighs like 250. I thought that he would wreck that short guy, but I guess that that's why he plays basketball...

Wow, that fat guy really got knocked. I think it was really disrespectful of the fans to pour beer and throw cups and chairs at the players though. Very rough, I wonder if any assult charges will be laid on anyone.

Wow..

Pacers-Ron Artest 30 Games

Jermaine O'Neal 20 Games

Stephen Jackson 20 Games

Pistons-Ben Wallace 5 Games

Unofficial.

Look at the bright side, Artest can promote the CD he produced now.

I am waiting on Artest and the fan who he punked. It could be a huge lawsuit against him. If that kid did not throw the drink ... oh my!

I can see seven figures on this one.

Pro athletes get out of everything, I highly highly doubt it gets near 7 million.
