Favourite Tapered Blade

Recommended Posts

On the market for a new tapered blade to put in my se 16 shaft. I was wondering what is your favourite blade on the market right now?

I like the SE16 blades because of their shorter hosel and very light weight. Their feel is a bit more crisp than some of the other blades out there as well.

Another one I like is the pre-DD Dolomite blades, especially some of the pro stock ones.

Is there any chance of finding them anywhere? Seems like they are mostly sold out.

I've found that some little shops or lesser-known websites that still have an odd selection of some. The EQ50 replacement blade is the same thing, just with the little weighted section; however, knowing that some people had issues with that weight popping out of the blade scares me away from it. The Mako replacement blade is also the same thing, except it is painted white and costs $70.

Seeing as their main guy used to work for both Easton and Warrior and many say his current company's designs are based off those previous companies' products, I'd like to try a Base tapered blade.

Yeah trying to stay away from the eq 50. Have 3 base sticks already and I like them but not totally crazy about them. Wanting to try something else. My only problem with easton blades is that they don't have any curves that i like. I dont like how deep and open the sakic blade is and I dont find the Cammy curve has enough curve.. I like the heatly curve but i dont like how short the blade is. Wishing easton produced a p88 clone. I'd be willing to try warrior blades. Hows the durabilty on these? Ive had 2 dolomite spines that broke right away in the blade.

The best tapered blades I've used were listed as pro stock One95 tapered blades on eBay. They had retail curves(p92 and P106). I can't say if they are truly pro stock One95 tapered blades or not, but they are my favorite blade so far (tapered or standard). If I had to buy a retail blade right now, I'd try to find some Dolo blades on closeout. I've had great luck with them.

The same seller that sold me the Bauer blades has one (LH Drury) up on ebay now. If I liked that pattern, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. (My only concern with the seller was that the packaging didn't afford much protection).

I found the performance of the SE16 blade to be awesome however their durability was horrible. Wonder if the new Mako blades are better durability wise.

I currently have a few Reebok 11k blades and they have held up fairly well. I also ordered a Base blade that I have yet to pick up.

For the price can't go wrong with the Harrow 300 lots of selection in curves and I never had a problem with them.

Agree with the Harrow 300 blades, I've had one in a reebok 10k shaft for the past season and its taken some beating cosmetically, been stood on by skates, battered about the boards when digging pucks out but its still going strong

Thinking of getting some harrow blades. I have a question about the dolo blades though. Which model is the best? LOoking for decent durability and good feel.

Side question for Harrow users; which pattern is really the most like the Iginla? From their blade chart it seems like every other pattern is "comparable to Iginla".

5 is very close, just with a 5 lie. I believe the 8 was closer to the old Yzerman retail.

I'm going to be trying out some pro stock tapered EQ50 blades (no weight windows) here soon. Excited to see what they feel like and how they perform.

really digging the 7k tapered blades.i was able to score a few on closeout at the local national sports here in the GTA. have had them and been using them for a full season (2-3x a week).

the durability is great, and they are still stiff as when i first got them.

I enjoy curving my composite blades so I usually go with RBK 7k/pro stock blades and Harrow's blades.

I know that ccm/RBK pro stocks curve very well. Do the harrow blades respond the same way to heat?

Had pretty good luck with all Warrior blades up until the "Double D" style blades; Even the goofy Spyne blades held up better for me. If you can find any Dolomite HD blades I'd go with those

Yes. They take a little more time, but still do very well. Lasted about 20-25games til i got it stuck in the Zam door and it snapped. Just curved a p71 one90 OPS to a more gionta like curve. we'll see how this lasts.
