NHL 13 Demo Aug 21

Recommended Posts

I really hope this new skating will fix the puck raggers who just skate around in circles. Apparently it's much much harder to score now which is good; I'm getting pretty tired of those short side snipes.

Also there will be penalties for backing out of games at the ready check screen for EASHL

Yet, if you watch the videos, almost every goal is from somebody dangling the puck back and forth back and forth. I see nothing new besides the skating. Glitch goals about and the penalty for backing out is just stupid. "Oh, we're losing 22 to 0. So let's back out." "Oh we can't it's a penalty for backing out"

Great job EA. I just wish they would take a page out of Rockstars book and banish all the glitchers and people playing 20 games (yes, played a team the other night that has played 5,000 games) a night and put them all in banished land. Rockstar did it right with Max Payne 3.

A group of four of us in college played every iteration from 09-12, and had loads of fun doing it. It's not the game, it's who you're playing. There will always be ways to "break" a game or find "glitch" goals, but you have to remember that it is a video game, not an actual hockey game that got digitized and crammed into your PlayStation.

theres never gonna be a perfect video game. But they try real hard to make it better every year so lets just be happy somebody puts in so much effort that we can enjoy hours of fun with the game we all love.

it's called showcasing the game

"Oh, we're losing 22 to 0. So let's back out." "Oh we can't it's a penalty for backing out"

how can you be losing 22-0 at the ready check screen.

theres so many morons that back out of the ready check screen for various reasons like they arent home team, they dont have as many players (idiots who dont use match club size option), or high ranked teams. when we won elite championship, the other team backed out more than half the time.

So, showcase the game and not the damn dangle goals. Great, we can dangle again, and again and again. Yippie do. I'm just so glad that you can no longer have a 99 ratting in anything. Thank Buddha.

Watch this video and it's the same exact crap from NHL 12.

2:15, he gets hit but still gets the puck back. Really? Then of course, 5:48 in and of course, SAME crap goal. Of course, the one where the goalie is screened, sure I can see that. But those are the two same goals from NHL 12 that I have seen time and time again that are just crap. With the one at 5:48 being ONE of the glitch goals from NHL 12.

how can you be losing 22-0 at the ready check screen.

We feel that with the matchmaking improvements we have done, there should be no reason to back-out on your opponents in NHL 13. The back-out penalty is intended to punish the quitting team whether they quit from the Side Select or prior to the one minute mark in game. Anything after the one minute mark of game is tracked as a Did Not Finish (DNF) Loss so there is no need for additional punishment.

Consecutive back-outs are able to stack, and the punishment results in a deduction of rank points upon the next completed regular season game if it results in a win. DNF losses post 1 min mark, and Playoff games will carry any back-out penalties to the next game. Side Select and Pre-Game back-outs can be weighted differently and we can choose to implement a grace number of back-outs before the penalty would apply. Penalty amounts per back-out, Max penalty amount, and free back-out amounts can all be adjusted server side per back-out type.

So if you get stuck playing a D bag team, it's your fault of course, right? Yup, makes sense to me. Sure, I exaggerated the 22-0 score. Also, good luck EVEN trying to use the Match club size because it doesn't work for crap. Maybe ONCE in a blue moon. I'm saying, if D bags want to play each other, let them go play some where else. Or I'll gladly send them a case with a DLC code for 3 on 3 arcade.

the 5:48 goal is a glitch goal? whats so glitchy about a breakaway deking a goalie? i dont know about u but i would say that a breakaway deke is a pretty high scoring chance. the pit player just skated 3 players right past the puck carrier on missed checks, thats his own fault for opening the lane. we dont know what difficulty they are on either. the harder the difficulty, the faster that player would have picked up the puck after the hit, or the goalie would have been a lot better. its not like every shot is going in, but goalies also shouldnt be invincible. there are still bad goals that count, but i just allocate them as if they were human error like real goalies.

my experience is all based on EASHL games, i dont know how u can tell if its a "dbag" team without at least playing them once. im not sure what qualifies them to be a "dbag" team, but there are some cases when we cant even find a team to play for 30 minutes and its ridiculous, especially when its the same team backing out over and over and over again.

D bag team, 20000 games played and a 6.00 goals for. D bag team. If you watched the video fully, he says it's on all star setting. The goal at 5:48 is a glitch goal from NHL 12 where you skate across the goalie and he barely reacts to it. One of the few glitch goals still left in NHL 12. If your in denial, well, you're one of those people and teams.

300 games played 2.5 points per game. most of my goals are short side snipes coming down the left wing or cross crease tap ins made from good plays

i definitely know the "glitch" goal when ur coming from the goal line that involves the hug post, but this one was a lot more direct coming down the middle. i didnt watch the video with any sound my headset makes me sweat too much in this damn summer

Finally get a new Xbox in a week so I am looking forward to the demo. Have picked the sticks in 6+ months. Just showed me that video games eat up a lot of time ha.

I see that they still don't have everyone's faces imported into the game. Coburn looks nothing like that haha. Same with Orpik. And still no 4-man officiating crew. Ah, EA. These should be in the game.

anybody played it? all in all I like the little changes. the skating is definitely different, as is the left trigger will be joyous for those losers online who want to hold onto the puck til the clock expires.

As I tried it last night I couldn't but help feel like I was playing 2k11. The physics based skating really changes the game.

I like the skating engine a lot more this time around. I feel that it is much more natural now. Goalies also look a little better. I like it IMO. Def. will be picking this up this year!

The crossovers and edge work have a more realistic feel, momentum plays a larger part. To me it felt and looked more natural, watch the Giroux video describing it and then mess around in free skate.

5:48 goal reminded me of a right handed version of Crosby's first goal of the year against the Islanders.

try skating straight to get top speed and turn, or skate figure 8's occasionally hitting the left trigger

really looking forward to playing some EASHL

I didn't buy 12 but after playing the demo for a bit, I'm fairly certain I'll be buying this one.

Same here, this finally seems like big enough change for me to take the leap.
