going from supreme skates to apx skates

Recommended Posts

Hey guy's I'm interested in trying out vapor apx skates does anybody have any input on going from the supreme line to the vapor line? Currently in one100 10.5D should I opt for 10.5EE in the apx? Any information would be great going to check them out tomorrow was just interested if anybody experienced problems when switching lines or any positives as well. Haven't had vapors since the XXX's I'm sure an abundance has changed since than.

I have One95's and they fit like a dream. Last year I went to get some new skates, and tried on the APX. They ended up fitting nearly as well as my One95's, so I ended up getting them. I went with the same size and width as my Supremes, had them baked, and had no pain. Albeit, I ended up returning them two weeks later as I hadn't found a team to play on and couldn't justify buying new skates when I wasn't playing regularly, so I never got to skate with them. Take it for what it's worth, but I didn't have any fit issue.

They fit completely differently. So assuming the supreme line fits, the vapors probably wont.

This.

Though if you are curious, compare the fit of a size 11 APX as well to your 10.5 Supreme.

i wont' disagree that they fit differently, but they still fit feet and some feet may just be in between enough to fit both skates reasonably. Having said that they are designed to fit a bit different; the supreme has less negative space and a tighter heel and a bit of a wider forefoot compared to the vapor. the vapor has less volume as well.

I can fit a vapor as reasonably as a supreme with one caveat - there is definitely not enough volume in the vapor for me.

Unlikely, but I still see it all the time. There will always be people who could fit both comfortably, but I believe that neither could fit perfectly.

I continue to hear how the Vapor line is for a smaller foot and after wearing my total ones' for one week and the inner ankle padding disappearing, the skate had to be exchanged. The store agreed to exchange the skate, but not for another Supreme NXG and with a Bauer rep. I had an appointment made with a Bauer rep and the first thing he did was explain the different models to me. In the beginning I stayed away from the vapor line because I thought it was for small or narrow feet. Come to find out there is not enough ankle room / Depth in the Supreme for me. This is why they offered to exchange, but not for the same skate "they knew it would happen again". He suggested the Vapor line, APX to be exact. He explained that the skate is V shaped from back to front, and said the Vapor skate has more ankle room. As soon as I put the skate on it fit like a champ. I have a wide fore foot and a narrow heel. I require a deep boot and the Vapor worked. I have tried the Crazy lights, Reebok, and Supremes. This is the only skate that my inner ankles sat back far enough. Everywhere I read says, “Vapors are for a small or narrow foot”. With that advice I should not be in a vapor skate.

I had them baked, a 9-10 radius put on them with 2 degrees forward pitch and I couldn't be happier. Even though they say it has an aggressive forward lean to the boot, It still didn’t lean forward enough for me.

So the Nexus was too big and the Supreme to small, but yet the Vapor fit correctly??

I wanted to pull my hair out.

Just for the record I went to 6 different stores and every store after sizing me said the Vapor wouldn't work????

I cannot believe how misinformed people are in the retail industry.... in Metro Detroit!!!

So the moral of the story is.... Try on every skate you can before you buy!

My understanding is that the Vapor and Supreme differ in how narrow/wide different parts of the boot are, in relation to other parts of the boot. I found the Vapor X60 too narrow in the forefoot for me, while the Supreme One95 fit me pretty well there, and elsewhere.

The moral of the story is the same as always: try the skates for fit, if you want to know for sure.

You know what the rep did that I was shocked that I never did? Hold up a supreme and Vapor at the same time and look at the top. You can actually tell that the Vapor is wider. He said the eyelets are low and will accomidate a narrow foot, but with the thin tongue there is alot of give for a taller foot like mine. After I baked the skate it actually formed very well and got a tad wider. I am very impressed with the material the skates are made out of. I will say that the stifness is crazy!!! I don't think the NXG's are as stiff.

To complete Natbat's comments and give additionnal input :

Vapor line has a thinner forefoot than Supreme. This is because the Vapor D is lasted on D and Supreme D is lasted on an E. An E and D last have the same length, only EE is longer.

Vapor has a wider heel pocket than Supreme, this is why your heel is more comfortable in a Vapor.

I personnally have a thin foot, but a somewhat large ankle. Supreme are too narrow in the heel and Vapors fit like champs, why Supremes are a bit wide in the front of the skate.
