Opinions on Four roll gloves.

Recommended Posts

I'm about to get some new gloves and I've narrowed it down to either Easton EQPro, Bauer Four Roll, CCM Four Roll or Warrior Bonafide X.

I live in the U.K. so not many hockey shops around to try on different pairs. Can anybody give some opinions or reviews of any of these? For looks I like the easton ones best but performance is also important.

Thanks.

For the price, I think the Bauer 4 roll may be one of the best deals in hockey. It is a fantastic glove, as good as anything out there. I find it extremely comfortable, but that is personal preference.

for bauer 4 roll, its has the shortest finger length i believe. might wanna go up 1 size. EQ and bonafide are quite similar in length. dunno about ccm.

for comfort i'll go with either bonafide or bauer 4 roll.

I would argue exactly the opposite. When you compare it to other gloves at that price point, it comes up lacking.

I love the Bauer 4 rolls but they don't breathe as well as my franchises. I would go with the Bonafide X. Warrior makes some amazing gloves. Easton and CCM products seem to break down easily. At least in my experience.

I just think no matter which glove, they pale in comparison in protection vs pro return gloves. And even with pros, when you get slashed it still hurts like hell until you get back to the bench. So I think you should choose based on fit, weight, and comfort. With that said, Bon X would be my choice out of the four. I've recently been shopping for new ones and the Bon X left a better impression that the other ones above. I'm also a huge fan of Graf G75/65 gloves this year.

got bauer 4 roll, like 'em but wouldn't say they're amazing. hands get pretty hot despite a couple of vent holes. don't find them extremely flexible (maybe 6 out of 10 for flexibility, but it hasn't been an issue). palm not holding up that well. but their protection is great and the short cuff gives great maneuverability. all in all i like them and am not looking to replace them any time soon

I've used Bauer 4-Rolls for the better part of the last 3 years and recently got a pair of Bonafide X. I think the Warriors are a much better glove than the Bauers; better protection, liner, and palm. They're very comfortable and are breaking in quickly. I definitely recommend them

I know you didn't list these gloves, but my favorite retail 4 roll gloves are the TPS R8, Sherwood T90, Winnwell Pro Stock versions that are made in the Philippines. Great protection and digital overlay palms.

I only tried the winwells on in a store, but they were really comfortable glove.

I got Eagle X89s recently, and really like them. Comfortable, protective, and broke in almost immediately. Plus they're made in Canada. The monkey has them for about $100 right now.
