Recommended Posts

Hey boys this is my first attempt at starting a topic. (Hope it's under the right topic) Anyways I wanted to know in your opinion what is your favorite skate liner? Thanks

I've always been a big fan of Clarino, since my CCM Tack days. I've always considered it to be comfortable, traditional, hydrophobic and durable. I've always questioned the logic in using moisture wicking high tech fabric technology in a skate liner. The moisture has to be wicked somewhere and I just don't see trapping it in the gap between the liner and the outer boot as being a very desirable destination. My son has CCM U+12s & I have Bauer TotalOnes(customs hence the Clarino), both pairs have a Clarino liner. His skates are pretty beat & have some major pilling of the liner, he doesn't seem to notice or mind. I overpronate and on the inside of the left heel I have some major degradation and wear of the Clarino liner, I don't notice it but I have concerns about the longevity I'm going to get with the skates. The Clarino of today just doesn't seem to be as tough or durable as it used to be.

I really like the liner on my X:40 skates, I believe they call it "grip liner." Not sure what the material is exactly, but it feels sort of like a grippy, fine weave corduroy. I personally prefer it to clarino.

The clarino in the Mission S500 was my favorite. I seem to recall Justin saying it was 3x the cost of the liner in the S400, that would help explain why manufacturers shy away from it.

Forgot about those Chadd. Fit, liner, et al was absolute gold. Too bad most of the Mission tech (and the idea of someone making a soft, low cut boot other than Graf) seems to have been thrown out the window with the Bauer acquisition.

I liked the hydra-max liner from the X60. Did a good job to prevent my foot from sliding and stayed pretty dry.

Went with that liner in my TotalOne's. Was disappointed to find it no longer available when I bought my NXG's.

My favorite so far, APX liner. HATED HATED HATED the X:60's liner. Graf 703's were fine but nothing special. APX is the first skate I think I could comfortably wear no socks. Did I mention I hated the X:60's liner?

The Nike Quest 2 liner was great because they were always stink free. I'm not much of a fan about the Bauer 8090 Hydrophobic liner cuz the the skates retain a mild stink even after pulling out the footbeds and hanging them under a fan after every skate.
