Easton-Bell For Sale?

Recommended Posts

Colorado judge ruled this week that its Riddell brand had not sufficiently warned players wearing their football helmets about the danger of potential concussions.

Really? A sport where your job is to hit/get hit and the company that makes the HELMET has to warn you about it? FFS common sense anywhere?

Well you have the Prof at VT saying he can rate helmets better than HECC and CSA and is doing his own rating system to show what helmets are better for concussions.......like really a helmet is going to do a damn thing about a concussion!

The people that should be sued are the trainers and Dr's that let them play with concussions.

Then again how much did we really know about the long term affects? and I mean Really know. We still do not know how bad it could be?

I say they will be sold and you may even see companies stop making football helmets and leave it to a few.

This. Being an EMT and shadowing a bunch of ATCs I can say that some coaches are relentless when trying to get someone to play. Ridiculous.

Not surprising. They're owned by a pe firm so a sale was coming at some point as the pe firm needed an exit. They bought Easton Bell in 2006 so they're coming up on the long end of a standard 5-7 year pe hold period. Also, it sounds like they initially bought Riddell in 2004, which means that the specific fund the company sits in is probably coming close to the end of its lifespan

CSA certifications should be taken with a grain of salt as well. Iit comes down to whoever can shell out the money for testing. There are many non-certified goal masks that I'd wear before even touching any of those widowmakers the big brands offer.

Bell also makes racing helmets. A bunch of f1 drivers use them. There was a rumour a few years back that schuberth was going to enter hockey.

So true. I got a concussion and I didn't even hit my head, got it from the whiplash. My doctor told me most concussions he sees are from auto whiplash. My neurologist cleared me to play but I still have headaches and slur words, permanent damage I don't think will go away. Didn't Reidell football helmets just lose a huge lawsuit for not warning about concussions?

LOL

If you only knew...

haha I know, everything is for sale (including my business) for the right price.

yep investors want their money back for the next project. I am happy to see that at least this PE was looking to grow the company and not strip it's assets.

Pe firms generally do not recycle funds after exiting an investment. Those funds get sent back to the investors in the pe fund as their investment return. Pe funds have a defined lifespan, pe firms get money for their next investments by raising new funds with new investment timelines. There are rare exceptions when a fund makes an investment and gets an exit very early in the fund life where it may recycle the funds, but that doesn't happen often.

That would have been so sexy. Schuberth makes some kick ass motorcycle helmets. Very comfortable and good looking too.

Has nothing to do with everything/anything being for sale for the right price.

Like I said, if you only knew...

OK, seems you know so why don't you tell us?
