Sock Design Help

Recommended Posts

My team recently decided to get some new jerseys after about 10 years of wearing the same ones. Decision was based mostly on just being bored with them, as they were still holding up pretty darn well considering their age (Easton jerseys from BigStick).

Anyhoo, I took this opportunity to revamp our logo as well, and the end result is something we're really pleased with. We're going with the Seatlle Seahawks color scheme, except using black instead of navy blue. The jerseys are based on the "Buffaslug" pattern.

Everything has been going well, but now I'm thinking about the socks, and can't make up my mind. The socks that pair with the Buffaslug jersey are basic horizontal stripers. We're going with the newer style socks, which allow for more possibilities. I'd really like the socks to match the curves and points featured on the jersey, but again, I just can't decide. It's an overload of possibilities.

So I'm turning to MSH for input. I've already covered most of the pertinent information. We're just a beer league team, so there's no set standard for helmets, gloves or pant shells, HOWEVER, just about all the guys on the team wear solid black pants, helmets and gloves.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks. I keep going back and forth... I'm hoping to get it narrowed down, and have samples made. For something so simple like a sock, I'm having the hardest of times visualizing it, especially how the curved ones would wrap around the leg.

I like #6. It doesn't "match" the curves on the jersey, but I think it plays off of the breaking stick logo very well.

here's how I see it:

White is not a predominant color on the jersey, so I don't think it should be so on the sock either.

There also aren't any horizontal lines on the jersey, so the same thing on the socks again.

All of the colors should be represented.

That means 2,4,6,7,8 are all out off the bat.

1 and 5 are pretty much the same, but I like the white up high. It will show less wear on the thigh than down around the shins and 5 just looks off to me. So that eliminates 5.

That leaves 1 and 3, depending on which style you prefer. At that point you can flip a coin to pick. I would probably go 1, only because it's a more modern design and fits the look to my eye better.

If white shouldn't be on the sock, then why suggest he go with #1?

Did you take a second to realize there is more white on the jersey than silver?

I didn't say that it shouldn't be on the sock. simply that I didn't think it should be as prominent.

The white is under the arm, where it will be less visible and is less of a factor in the overall impression of the jersey in my opinion.

Feel free to disagree, there is no "right" answer, simply varying opinions. However, there's no reason to make a discussion like this personal.

Far from personal. Your response to the OP is contradictory.

And yes, you posted "White is not a predominant color on the jersey, so I don't think it should be on the sock either."

It was intended to be read that since it is not predominant on the jersey that it should also not be predominant on the sock, not that it should not be present at all on the sock.

I love 6 just because it goes with the logo. Well done there.

Otherwise 7 or 8 (depending on whether you like curves or straight). Always been a big fan of the two colored socks (eg washington and nashville).
