The Jury Is In...

Recommended Posts

Good decision was made for that case, I just don't support the chearing in the court room after the verdict was heard, I mean come on, 3 persons will be dead at the end of this.

One of the radio stations I work at is a Country station. The guy finishes reading the News Update about the Peterson verdict. The last line of the story is:

"...Peterson's alibi was that he was fishing alone the night his wife was murdered.."

The first song scheduled (the music was done yesterday) to play after the news was "I'm Gonna Miss Her" by Brad Paisley...it's a song about a guy who goes fishing so much that his wife leaves him.

[insert jokes about country music here].

The guy who was one air caught it and moved the song lower in the hour...just to be safe.

Personally, I would rather have had him spend his sorry ass life in prison for the rest of his life and think about what he did....Just killing him dosent accomplish anything because hed just be dead and wouldnt have anytime to consider what he did....

Kovy, do you know how much it costs to incarcerate somoene per year? The figure is somewhere around 30,000. Prisons need to be more self-sufficient than they are now. It's pathetic when it costs more to keep someone in jail than that person would make working for a year.

It costs more to kill him than for him to serve a life sentence. At least thats what us Canadians are being taught in school.

I remember that happening on the radio station here, they were talking about someone dieing then proceded to play 'Another One Bites the Dust' by Queen afterwards. They came back on the radio and said that the computer randomly plays the songs.

It costs more to go through the inevitable appeals and put someone to death than it does to put them in prison for life.

That's because the appeal process here is so damn long, they should just give them seven days (like some place over in Europe) and get on to pulling the switch.

What about the people who were convicted wrongly and recently freed based on DNA evidence? A big "oops" to the family about killing the person? There are excellent points for both sides in this debate.

I'm all for the death penalty, for cases like this where there is no doubt. However, you can't help but get the impression that if this case wasn't in every tabloid and news stations every day, the sentencing might have been a bit different.

Any one else think they should air this on Pay-Per-View? Im sure many would pay to see. Maybe donate 1/2 the $ to Lacies family. Too bad it will a long while before it happens.

Back in grade 10, I did a report on innocent people taken by the death penalty. For some reason, Illinois sticks in mind. Also, there have been a fair amount that have been killed and later found to be innocent.

Illinois had a stretch over about 11 years where they exhonerated more men on their death row than they executed. Tells you something about just how wrong a jury can be sometimes.

Too bad that they don't show executions on TV? You gotta be kidding me, right? Watching somebody being killed on TV, pay-per-view or not is just a ludicrous idea. What's would be next after that? Bringing back public hangings in the town square? Thank goodness that executions will never be televised...

Are you trying to make it some kind f snuff film? I also didnt like how people were chearing the Peterson got the death penalty, they make it seem like it is some kind of game. You will never know for sure if he's innocent or guilty, but I dont think it is any of our business to judge him for his actions.

What makes that guy seem innocent at all?

Im not saying that he's innocent I just dont think it is right/fair for people to just automatically assume that he's guilty. I would've like to see the forensics and evidence against him.
