What is the best current stick for wrist shots on the market?

Recommended Posts

Being a fan of the Easton Stealth line, I was curious if there was something else out there I have been missing regarding a quick and accurate wrist shot in particular.

Thanks

I've particulary liked my bauer vapor apx for wrist shots . Light, durable, and long lasting. Only thing as most people have if they own an apx is that the blade loses its pop after a few months.

I really like my CCM RBZ for wristers. Custom kick point works well on all shots, but wristers are very crisp and accurate.

For me and my shooting motion, it has been the widow.

There is no such thing, that's just marketing spin.

+ 1 for the Widow. Too bad they're getting harder and harder to find.

Current stick I'd presently give it to the V9E (this is only my opinion of course). At the time I opted for the APX instead though, because I preferred the APX for slap shots, which I take more of than wrist shots these days.

+3 on the Widow. It's been my go to stick for quite some time but you're right, they're getting harder to find with the proper options I'm looking for.

Good news is the dt1 will soon fill it's spot and you can buy one or two and they may last you a lifetime so you don't need to keep finding and old stick. My dt1 is over a year now with only a little toe chipping and still feels great on the shot.

I have the new DT3LT & love it. Going to upgrade to the DT1LT when I can afford it & keep the '3LT as my backup.

Great low kick stick

i've used a RS, RSII, RBZ, Ribcor, Nexus, T1 NXG, APX, MakoII, V9, & V9E all in the past year or so. There really is no "best" it just all depends on what you're looking for, I like a pretty whippy stick with a lower kickpoint, I'm 6'5" so I put a 4" plug in my stick...I rarely take one timers or slappers so my preference is going to be based on what works well for quick release snappers.

I've been very pleased with the RSII, Ribcor, APX, MakoII, and V9E not really in any order. They all seem like elite sticks that could be used interchangeably based on which one feels the best in your hands based on the shaft geometry or balance, and which one provides the curve you like.

The Nexus, T1 NXG, & V9 seemed like good sticks...but they were a little stiff for my liking (at 85-87 flex) and this was probably due to their flex profile.

To be frank the RBZ was the only one I felt was deficient.

Thanks for all the feedback. From all that I gathered I believe that Im going to stick with whats been working best for me. I have not tried the V9e but the S19 and the RS models have been great. As tempting as the Widow is, all the blade nightmares are what prevent me from even giving it a spin. Never the less thanks again gang.

I'm 168cm.

And I felt similar thing what MOSTLY it's better to use very flexible and tortionable low kick point stick for our sall men.

So I've chosen Easton's V9E because it has very low kick and tortionable ability based on its neck construction.

I ordered a dozen custom V9E with original curve last year and now enjoying ice time with it.

But also I agree this point that it is not a best.

Although I think this is much better thing for wrist shot/ shooter.

APX2 corrects this problem, supposedly the blade is made way better and keeps it's stiffness

I'll add another vote for the DT3LT, it was at the top of what I was willing to spend & I am really happy I went with it over the DT4LT. It is a really great feeling stick & the ability to whip off quick wristers with seemingly little effort is amazing coming from the 2-piece sticks I had previously.

Being an Easton fan and having used all iterations of the Stealth and Velocity lines...... The V9E would be my 2nd choice. I'm gonna throw Sherwoods hat in this ring and say the Rekker EK15. It's got pop and is more accurate. IMHO.

In the past year to 18 months I've used:

retail original TotalOne (P88)

pro stock NXG (P92L)

retail Nexus 1000 (P88)

retail APX (P14)

pro stock APX (P92L)

retail Mako II (E3)

retail V9 (E3)

pro stock V9E (E3 clone)

Probably go with the Mako II and retail APX for the crispest wrist shots when you have a decent amount of time to really load up and lean into the shot.

Nexus and pro stock APX for the best wrist shots when I was looking to get it off my blade as quickly as possible.
