Just curious, I know that putting decals on a helmet voids the warranty - is this still the case with the 'SportStar' blank tabs even though they're endorsed by the NHL? I'm keeping the CSA, HECC and CE sticker on anyway. Has the 'Warning, ice hockey is a collision sport...' sticker to remain on the helmet? Apologies if I'm opening a can of worms.

Some teams have been disqualified from games in the OMHA playoffs up here for having taped on stripes on their helmets, as apparently it voids something.

Awesome, thanks d00de! Thanks everyone for helping me out here, as I'm new to 'playing it by the book' as it were. We use the BIPHA rule book in Scotland and all it says is that you should wear a helmet designed for ice hockey and that's CSA approved, over 21s face protection is optional - but nothing prohibiting decals.

Anyone remember this kind of stick tape (do they still sell it?) it's textured plastic. It's indestructible. I put this on last in about 1995 and it's lasted me since. Occasional applications of heat and pressing it back on is all it needs.

This may or may not be legal curvature... :D

19 year old tape:

I'm torn between grinding all the paint off and plasti-dipping the shaft... and leaving it as is with it's war wounds or grinding all the paint off and mirror polishing it.

Every slapshot I take bruises my hands now that I'm an old man. But with snap shots and wrist shots, it's a beast.

You can see it's lifting a little here. has been since 1995 (yes, this tape is OLD)

you can see how it sorta shatters rather than falls off

Also, the Sherwood blade is indestructible too. this whole setup is as is from 1995.

Cooper pants (these are getting replaced with Combat MF 52 Caliber pants)

Easton Synergy EQ50 Shinpads

Bauer Vapor X20 Gloves

CCM Supra SP500 Shoulder Pads (also getting replaced because they're choking me...)

Bauer Custom Supreme 1000s (I hated these when I bought them in like 1996... so they sat until last year when my 1992 Custom Supreme 100s split a seam at the eyelets and wouldn't lace anymore... so I baked these and popped them on and they feel ok now. they still pinch my heels a little, but I just need to suck it up and break them in)

I also have an Easton S19 helmet and some Bauer Vapor elbow pads

Also, here's some of that old equipment back in 1993

The Cooper pants, Supra shoulderpads, H4799 and Bauer Custom Supreme 100s are visible.

Kneepads were Coopers that just blew up last year on me (plastic shattered)

I miss my Cooper 2000 helmet... the foam got gnarly and I had to junk it.

Don't grind off the paint- you will SERIOUSLY damage the aluminium shaft. Instead, use a chemical paint remover (Citrustrip or similar), then polish. You may not be able to get rid of the battle scars without destroying the stick. You could fill the dents, nicks, etc. with Bondo and paint the stick silver (or whatever colour you desire). PlastiDip falls off; but you could get some of that soft paint. Alsa Corp makes a cool system; however, you need the capabilities of a full-on body shoppe to apply it.

At this point I can lift most of the paint off with my fingernails. I was thinking of just scraping it off with a razor blade. I'll probably just hit it with some aircraft remover and scrape it off.

I could anodize it or chrome plate it for maximum ostentatiousness.

Bought a ragged pair of Denver Univesity Vapor XXXs, sent them off to George's Hockey repair and they came back today. For someone who's only done repalms with FIBM (What a fool I've been) I'm amazed by the quality and craftsmanship here. Turnaround time was unbelievable, they only had them in the shop for 2 days.
