Shorter Pants? or What fits like a u+12?

Recommended Posts

I need to replace my CCM u+12's.  They have nice short legs, and pretty roomy.   I tried on a buddys RBZ's, and they are a little more snug than I expected.   Does anyone have suggestions for shorter legged pants?   I know most of the Bauers I've tried on are way too long for me at a given waist size.

PS - does anyone have the Eagle x705's and can comment on the fit? I can get a cheap pair of those and I do love Eagle stuff....

CCM is still the way to go for shorter pants. Maybe your friend's RBZs aren't as broken in as your U+ 12s? Or maybe they have bulkier padding being the top level pants? I would try on as many pairs of different pants as you can, and see what fits you the best.

Bulkier for sure.  They're heavier too.  What is the current equivalent of the u+/RBz line in CCM?

It's going to be the Quicklite- but most of the line (not just pants, everything) is of much lower build quality compared to the U+/RBZ in my opinion.

How so?

I've owned the CCM U+12LE, CCM RBZ, and now wear CCM QLT.  The CCM U+12 are the lightest, but they're a mid level pant, so they don't have nearly as much padding as the RBZ or QLT.  The RBZ is pretty darn light though, one of the lightest top level pants out there, and only a few grams heavier than the U+12.  However, the RBZ is more restrictive due to thicker padding, but, they are about the same in length as the U+12.  The RBZ are in particular more restrictive where the front of the hips meet the thigh.  The QLT is overall a little longer, a little heavier, and more streamlined than the U+12 and RBZ, and the padding is a bit "harder" and a little more restrictive than the RBZ. (QLT however is less restrictive in the front than RBZ).  If you like the U+12 fit and size, try to find the RBZ 130 if you can.  I would not go QLT, cause the fit is different. The pant lays differently on the hips, and they are slightly longer pants, which is not what you want.  I don't necessarily agree that the QLT is less build quality though...if anything, they are more durable than the RBZ, which I had to replace cause a bunch of the inner stitching came apart.  Unfortunately, for me, the RBZ was the best fit/protection out of the 3, but like the U+12, the RBZ are not readily easy to find anymore.  Hope that helps.

I have to agree with Cavs on this one.  I was only looking at the Quicklite elbows the other day, and while they were extremely light they just had a low end feeling to them.  Maybe I am just used to how 'heavy' other top end gear is in comparison just not for me.
