Difference between XX and XXX skates?

Recommended Posts

XXX:

Lining: Hydrophobic Clarino

Outsole: Perforated, Full Carbon Composite

XX:

Lining: Quick-dry Gripliner

Outsole: Ultra-light Pro-8 beveled composite.

However the only significant difference is the holder. The Bauer Vapor XX skates use the Tuuk Lightspeed holders (Black on the back) whereas the Bauer Vapor XX skates use the Tuuk Lightspeed2 holders (Red on the back).

I wouldnt' call it a significant difference, because you can retrofit the LS2 bolts onto the regular LS.

its the same holder in regards to performance and asthetics. Only difference is in the hardware and that the ls2 steel might be a little bit better quality.

Just out of couriosity, what is the retail price for the XXXs? My lhs has the XXs and XXXs both at 600 cdn and it just seems weird that they aren't charging more for XXXs.

They look the same to me too... except for the red or the block near the back.

Blues 91, where in Canada is your LHS? Is it a Source for Sports shop?

My LHS are selling the XX's for $599 and the XXX's for $699

I have been told by a friend who works for the company that the cost to them for the XXX's is pretty much the same as the XX's. Technically, they should be selling the XXX's for $599 CDN! Does anyone know a source for sports that sells the XXX's for $599 CDN? If I can find a Source for Sports in Canada that does, my Cleve's source for sports will match it. Some help would be appreciated guys :)

ok fellas, here it is

XXX Vs XX

The Liner and the outsole are the 2 main differences. The liner will actually hold up for a few years without shredding down to the plastic in the XXXs, the XX liner is crap and usually falls apart within 6 months on a player who skates frequently.

The outsole is the more rigid 8090 carbon outsole (which is also lighter).

The real question should be Why pay $100 more for a XXX when you can get the same skate practically in a 8090. Same liner, same outsole, same support

FYI the xxx is no more supportive or more durable in the outers than the XXXs.

I have not actually been in the store to check for myself, but a buddy of mine saw the XXXs for 599.99 at Ice Level Source for Sports in Richmond BC. You can probably call them make sure they are 599 their number is on their site.
